USS Galaxy Sim Log Stardate: 49612.1

Quickly working out the finer points of the machine (with the help of the manual), Liam started writing the program needed to initiate his plan. Then he realized that he hadn't sent invites

Captain Price,
Please inform all crew members that Ten-Forward will be located for all of Saturday and Sunday at Holodeck 1 operating in the form of an old style Earth barbeque I feel that this would be good for members of the crew to relax during the current sitution and for new members of the crew to meet others outside their departments so please come dressed appropiately(If possible) and if possible suggest some dishes before then for me to set out Thanks,

Liam Sketcher

[Send Message to Captain Price]

After the computer confirmed that the message was sent he turned around to continue writing his program.

"A Sign of Peace"

After the conference Lieutenant Sterner did as he was ordered by Commander Jamson. He contacted everyone who was supposed to be on the away team and ordered them to meet in transporter room 1 and arrived there shortly after making the calls. Parts of his security personal were already waiting to beam down. Ensign Aaron handed him a hand phaser and a tricorder, while he himself was armed with a phaser rifle. After everyone was present, the away team beamed down to the surface.

At first they only thing they saw was nothing except a huge crater where Captial City should be located. After a moment of shock Joerg got his tricorder and scanned the area for living beings. He didn't find any signal from a living being except for the away team. He ordered his security personal to protect the groups of the away team that had already been formed. Ensign Jeppo was ordered to go with Ensign Ti and Ensign Wadell, who were exploring the area. Ensign Quall and Ensign Aaron had to stay with the rest of the team, while Joerg approached Commander Jamson as they waited for the arrival of the Breen landing team. Then suddenly the Breen materialized near the Galaxy's away team. It consisted of three Breen. Commander Jamson approached the Breen to greet them and they talked about the current situation. Suddenly one of the Breen stepped forward and quickly approached the Commander. Joerg, responsible for the safety of the away team and especially for the Commander, shouted a warning to Jamson.

While approaching the Commander the Breen drew a long curved knife. Joerg reached the Commander in time and tried to protect him from a possible attack, when the leader of the Breen away team talked to them.

"We don't mean any harm to your Commander Jamson or any of your people, for now. This is Guvek, the ship's safety officer." he said while pointing at the Breen with the knife, who stood before the Commander and the Chief of Security.

"And what about the knife?" Joerg curiously asked Tevek, the leader of the Breen.

"It is an ancient tradition of the Breen to show their will for peace. One of each party that promised to cease their hostilities has to prove their intention with blood." Guvek tried to explain.

"You mean you want to kill one of us to insure we don't attack you?" Joerg asked Guvek.

"No, you don't understand. We don't want to kill one of you, we just need a drop of blood from one of you. It is not dangerous for the person but it will show us that you really want peace." Tevek explained.

Joerg looked at Commander Jamson as if to ask if he should be the one to prove their will for peace. Jamson nodded shortly to Joerg and he told Tevek that he will be the one for his people.

"May I take a look at the knife please?" Joerg asked, not without the fear that this knife could be poisoned. "I myself collect old weaponry from our planet's ancient days." he quickly added as he saw the strange expression on the Breen's faces.

After the Breen discussed his request, Guvek handed him the blade. Joerg scanned it with his tricorder, but found nothing dangerous on the knife. He kept the datas about the blade for further investigation aboard the Galaxy.

"This is a really interesting work." he said while returning the blade to Guvek, who seemed very pleased with the compliment.

"Can we start the ceremony now?" Tevek asked.

Jamson and Sterner both nodded and Tevek took the blade from Guvek's hand. Guvek himself took a small tablet with inscriptions from the third Breen. He gestured Joerg to take on side of the tablet while holding the other hand above it. Now that both of them had their hands above the tablet, Tevek cut both men's hands with the knife and turned them around, so that the blood would hit the tablet. Drops of red and light orange blood dripped on it. After a few drops the bleedings started to stop and Tevek started to merge the blood on the tablet with the knife while reciting strange and unintelligible words to complete the ritual. After finishing the chants, he turned to Jamson.

"Now we can investigate this planet together, as your people showed that they won't do us any harm until our paths part again." he said to the Commander.

With that the Breen joined the search parties of the Galaxy and they began to look for any explanation for the disappearance of all living beings on Rigel 7.

Chief of Security - USS Galaxy NCC-70637

"Is there a problem, D'tarna?" Chiron asked. Bellen looked at him emotionless. Should she tell him. She sensed a kindness in him not often found in others. 'Take a leap of faith, Bellen. Tell him...tell someone.' Bellen walked over to a large boulder and sat down. Chiron followed. She began, "I...there is someone...from my past."

"A host?"

"No. Not a host. I met him in the Vulcan Academy."

"Your lover."

"No...it was deeper than that. He was me...my other...we knew each other's thoughts..."

"I understand."

"I've been seeing him...everywhere. When I meditate and sleep but now...I see him when I'm awake and it's stronger. Enough to put down my guard."

"Perhaps you should see the Counselor..."

"No. I'll work it out by myself." she paused, "It's getting late. I'd better report for gamma shift. I've been working 2 shifts until we get better staffed. Let's do this again...soon. It was fun."

"Yes, it was. What did you think?"

"You're very good. Alert...you sensed when I let down my guard. Perhaps I could learn a few things from you." She smiled. "Goodbye, Chiron."

*** Gamma Shift: Sickbay ***

Bellen looked at the empty biobeds from Dr. Rousseau's office. The overhead lights were dimmed and the gamma crew was in place. The silence in sickbay made her head feel like it was going to explode. She longed for the sound of rustling papers or the wind blowing through the trees on Vulcan.

"Computer."

[beep]

"Access musical database for 1960's earth."

[Beep]

"Play Strawberry Fields." The room suddenly came alive. "Much better." She smiled. Bellen checked her messages. One from Liam Sketcher about about a jam session in Ten-Forward.

She responded "I am available any time during the Beta shift. I'll be working Alpha and Gamma shift until we get better staffed down here." She then forwarded Liam's message to Deiran. She was mezmerized by the work at hand. Suddenly, she heard a farmiliar voice behind her in sickbay. It sent a jolt down her spine. She stood stock stil and listened.

"May I help you?" Said Nurse Opel.

"Ensign Shtik reporting for my physical."

Her heart stopped. She stood, turned around and gasped as the PADD fell to the floor with a muffled clunk. The ensign looked at her. His vulcan guard fell and emotion broke through as he too stood bewildered.

"D'tarna!" He jogged to Bellen. They hugged.

"Oh, If I wasn't a vulcan I'd be crying right now!" She said painfully. Bellen then drew back. "How did you survive? The station was destroyed!"

Their whole relationship flashed before Bellen's eyes. She remembered when they met. It was at the Vulcan academy.. Both of them stuck out in the almost 100% Vulcan crowd. Him for his human upbringing and D'tarna for her divided origins. They soon found each other and were insperable until the day of his graduation in 2364. She was to stay for another year while he went on with his career. They defied logic and continued a long distance relationship. D'tarna left the vulcan academy in 2365 and went direclty to Starfleet Academy.

They met again in 2366 when he entered Starfleet. It was then and because of him that D'tarna joined with Bellen. She knew it would bridge the small age gap and solve the remaining conflicts due to their different upbringings. It helped. They had mind melded and after that were complete in the other's presence. They thought as one and loved as one. 'That's why I've been having those visions.' thought Bellen as she remembered the occasion. 'He was near...' But they were separated yet a second time when she left for Starfleet Medical. Bellen remembered the holocubes that they exchanged the day she left. The space that separated them seemed fathomless to Bellen. And yet again they reverted to a long distance relationship. Ensign Shtik was then relocated to an outpost station on the Federation/Romulan border. Communication to Earth was nearly impossible. One year ago Bellen got word of the outposts destruction...no survivors.

"What are you talking about? You left...I didn't know where you went."

"You died on outpost 22!"

"I was on outpost 21."

"21?" She asked timidly.

"Yes."

"Oh, my ignorance!" She smiled and hugged him again. Bellen then became aware of Nurse Opel's presence. "Why don't you come to my quarters later? We have so much to talk about..." He shook his head. Bellen then forced herself away from him and watched as he left with the nurse.

*** Bellen's quarters: Later ***

D'tarna sat in her vulcan robes meditating by a single candle. She let his images flow freely throughout her mind, now. It was foolish of her to push them away before. Everything one thinks has a reason. The doorbell chirped.

"Come in."

~Ghost~

They materialized near a larger crater. Ti could not believe her eyes. There was nothing, absolutely nothing, left of once had been a beautiful planet. She walked over towards the ridge that overlooked the airstrip. Wadell said something but she didn't comprehend. A Breen fell in next to Wadell. Major Jeppo caught up with Wadell and said something to him but she missed it too. The look in his eyes told her he was not happy. The airstrip was gone. How could the city, the airstrip, and all of the people just vanish? She must have let her mind wander because she heard a prop plane. Must have been thinking back to the air show. Ti looked around. She could see people. Not "see" as the word implied but they were there. She drew her arms around her. Jeppo faced her. "What is wrong with you?"

"I sense that we are not alone. The people, they are here. It is like they are in a fog. We can not see them, but they are there none the less." She heard Commander Jamson call her name. "The city is here," she whispered.

"Ensign?" Jamson asked.

"The city is still here sir." Ti looked up at him wide-eyed. Jamson was standing near her now.

"How do you know this?" He asked of her again. He had to be confused; she was.

"I just.. know.... I can feel it." Ti looked off towards the horizon. Being on this planet disturbed her. She wanted to leave. She remained in a daze for the rest of their stay on the planet. Ti could not shake the feeling she had being here. She followed the group down the crater side, a couple of times almost losing her footing.

When they beamed back to the ship, the away team found that the ship was under a red alert. They scrambled for their battlestations. Ti still had the uneasy feeling from the planet, but not as strong as it had been.

Commander Jamson and Ti were the only ones in the turbolift heading towards the bridge. "Are you okay, Ensign?"

"Yes, sir. I won't let my feelings from the planet interfer with my bridge performance."

Ti relieved Ensign Jiron at helm. She would have to prove that she was the best by outmanuevering the borg.

"Be prepared"

The away team returned to the Galaxy. While the Commander was quickly heading for the nearest turbo lift, Joerg and his security staff were informed of the Borg scout ship that headed towards the Galaxy.

Lieutenant Sterner, having read the security reports of previous Borg encounters, decided that all vital stations of the ship must be secured at once.

"Ensign Jeppo, take some security officers and protect Main Engineering at all cost against a Borg invasion. There may be only five Borgs on the scout ship, but each of them can be a deadly foe." Joerg tried to explain to him. But Ensign Jeppo just smiled softly at the Chief of Security.

"I'll handle this situation sir. Don't be afraid, engineering will be safe against those bastards." he replied.

"Don't forget to change the frequencies of your phaser. The Borg ..." Joerg again tried to explain to the Ensign, but was interrupted by Jeppo.

"The Borg can adapt to the frequencies. Yes I know that. May I go now?" he just said while waiting for the reply.

"Yes, you are dismissed." Joerg said very astonished about Jeppo's behavior.

And with that Tinian was on his way to engineering. Joerg turned to the remaining security members Ensign Aaron and Quall.

"Ok gentlemen. Another important, if not the most important, part of the ship is the Bridge. I myself will be there and if anyone of you wants to join me, he is welcome."

"I want to be on the bridge too sir." Ryan answered.

"I think I'll return to the security office in case there is another security problem we haven't heard of yet." Ensign Aaron said and they both waited for the Lieutenants approval.

Joerg nodded and entered a turbo lift that would bring Ryan and himself to the bridge. On their way Joerg contacted other security personal to assure that the vital sections of the ship are secured. Then they both stepped onto the bridge. Everyone was busy working for the upcoming encounter with the Borg.

Lieutenant junior grade Joerg Sterner
Chief of Security - USS Galaxy NCC-70637

As Quall and Sterner rode in the turbolift, the haunting memories of Ryan's last meeting with the Borg returned with amazing speed.

He could recall everything that had happened... It all seemed to be so similar to what was happening now...

Sterner was quiet, and so was Quall. Quall guessed that they both knew the gravity of the situation that was unfolding. If one of those Borg got on the ship... Ryan pushed that thought from his mind. Captain Price would never let that happen. He'd destroy that ship before it even gets close to us, assumed Quall. But he couldn't keep that terrible feeling from sinking into his stomach. That feeling that the Borg never do what you assume they would do.

The two security officers spent the remainder of the trip in silence.

When the turbolift came to a halt, Quall turned sideways to allow his superior officer to exit the turbolift first. Ryan exited right behind Sterner.

There was activity everywhere on the bridge. Everyone was getting ready for what was ahead. Captian Price turned when they exited the turbolift. The captain gave an approving nod to Sterner, and Sterner returned his acknowledgment.

"Quall, you station yourself on the other side of the bridge. I'll stay on this side."

"Yes sir." Quall waded through the moving people, over to the other side. He took up position at the top of the ramp that connected the upper and lower bridge; oppisite Lt. Sterner. Quall looked to him for approval, and he gave him a nod. Sterner then checked his phaser, and hand signaled Quall to check his.

After checking that his phaser was set to modualte frequencies, Ryan stood ready. He watched the spherical Borg ship on the view screen as he waited.

Chiron stopped by his quarters to drop off his gear from the battle in the holodeck. On his way to Engineering, he thought about D'Tarna, 'Hope she's all right...'

As he stepped onto the turbolift, he heard the Red Alert klaxon come to life. 'Hmm, I wonder what could be happening, can't be the Breen, the swore their cooperation.' When he arrived at Engineering, Skye was there.

"Skye, this is not your shift."

"'s not yours either."

"I heard the Red Alert signal and figured I would be needed here."

"You're right... Here."

Skye pushed something into his hand. Chiron looked down at it and found himself staring at the lines of a Type II Phaser, set to level 16.

"Why are..."

"Gee, you must not get the news do you?"

"No, I have been in the Holodeck with Lt. Bellen."

"One word, my friend...Borg."

Chiron looked up and stared into Skye's eyes, "Human humor is strangely vicious at times... could this be a joke I have not yet experienced?"

"I'm serious, Chiron."

Skye looked at him with all the seriousness of a man facing death... or his past.

"Yes, Skye, I can see that. It didn't show up on any Federation reports, but the Tamarian government was contacted as well during the Locutus incident. However, that was before El Adril, and your people couldn't understand us. We recorded the message and puzzled over it for several years, in fact, in a limited way, that's what helped us understand your language basics. After El Adril, our linguists had finally begun to understand Federation Standard and we decoded the message. Realizing the imminent threat of another Borg attack, the Tamarian Science Council agreed to work on building a new weapon that could be effective against the Borg long after conventional phasers were rendered ineffective."

"Let me guess, you were on this council?"

"Yes, as a Junior designer. Skye, I can modify your phaser rifles, even the ship's phasers to the specifications of our super-weapon. But I'll need your help and many others. I'll contact Lt. Capizzi, and inform him of my idea."

"Sounds good, Chiron. Every bit of an advantage could help against those things."

"Agreed."

"Good Luck."

"Thank you."

"Chiron to Lt. Capizzi."

"Capizzi here. Chiron, this better be good, we're in the middle of a crisis here."

"I know sir, and I may have a way to help..."

The red lights flashed overhead. Bellen looked at ensign Shtik and he at her.

"Busy ship"

"Aren't they all?" She sighed and raised her eyebrow. Ensign Shtik turned to leave. Bellen grabbed his arm, spun him around and kissed him one last time.

"We still need to talk." She said.

"I will contact you soon."

She watched smiling as he left. Bellen then changed, ran out of her quarters and headed for sickbay. On her way there, people ran back and forth taking their positions for...for god knows what! She didn't even know what was going on...When she entered sickbay everything was silent. Dr. Rousseau was in her office pouring over some reports.

"Scout Ship"

A few tense minutes past.

"Captain, the transporter room reports that all members of the away team have been beamed on board." The urgency could be heard in Lieutenant Coe’s voice.

"Understood Lieutenant."

The Captain’s reply was curt. When additional orders were not forth coming, Lieutenant Coe asked, "Sir? Are we going to break orbit?"

The turbolift doors swooshed open as some of the Senior officers from the away team took their stations on the Bridge. Captain Price looked over at Coe. "Negative Lieutenant."

"But Captain! That is the Borg. At least we should raise the shields."

"No Lieutenant. Keep the shields down. The Borg are able to adapt very quickly. I want to save the shields until we need them." The Captain was interrupted by Ensign Ti.

"Captain, enemy ship coming into visual range."

Price returned his gaze forward. "On screen Ensign."

The forward monitor displays the approaching image of a small, spherical shaped ship. As it draws nearer, the features of the craft identify it unmistakably. It is the Borg.

"Captain. Sensors indicate we are being scanned by the Borg vessel." T’Lein adjusted his Ops station before adding, "They are slowing to one quarter impulse."

"Let me know when the are in weapons range Lieutenant Coe."

"Aye Sir." Coe responded, checking his tactical station.

"Captain!" Ensign Ti said excitedly, "Look! The Breen are attacking!"

The bridge crew of the USS Galaxy watched as the three Breen Crusader class ships began firing their disrupters at the small Borg scout ship.

"Damn it! That throws a wrench into the works." Price says. Then turning to tactical, "Raise shields Lieutenant. Helmsman, plot an intercept course, full impulse."

The tones from Coe’s station rang out as he activated the ships defense systems. "Shields raised Captain."

Ensign Ti pilots the USS Galaxy out of orbit from Rigel 7 and punches the impulse engines as the ship races to engage the Borg scout ship. "We will intercept the Borg ship in twenty seconds Captain."

Captain Price watched as the three Breen ships attacked the Borg. Each one scoring direct hits using similar ‘wolf pack’ tactics as they used against the Galaxy earlier.

"I’m detecting heavy damage on the Borg ship Captain. They are not returning fire on the Breen." T’Lein reported. A tone of fascination in his voice.

"Captain, we are in weapons range. The Borg seem to be ignoring us Sir." Coe’s voice carried a tone that he was waiting for orders to open fire.

A puzzled look lands on the Captain’s face. "Why are the Borg not counter attacking?" He thinks. "It’s almost as if they don’t care if they are destroyed." The Captain’s eyes go wide as he realizes what is happening.

"Lieutenant T’Nevin, are you detecting any sub-space transmissions coming from the Borg ship?"

The part Romulan, part Vulcan Chief Science officer quickly peers into his stations scan visor as he adjusts the gain. "Nothing that I can… Wait!" T’Nevin stands up from his seat and looks at the Captain. "They are transmitting everything back towards the Alpha quadrant. Sector Zero, Zero, One Sir."

"Too late to stop that now. They know we are here. Lieutenant, lock on a tractor beam."

Coe looks at the Captain, "What?!"

"You heard the order Lieutenant. I want that ship. I need those Borg alive."

"But Sir!"

"LIEUTENANT."

Coe sighs. Obviously wanting to destroy the scout ship rather than capture it. Carrying out the Captain’s orders, he tried locking on to the sphere shaped ship with a tractor beam. "Captain, I am unable to get a lock on the ship. Something about their hull is rendering our tractor beam ineffective."

"Captain, the Borg ship is still heading for Rigel 7. They have changed their course, now taking a reentry heading. I think they are trying to land on the planet sir." Ensign Ti spoke very quickly. You could tell she was getting wrapped up in the excitement of the moment.

"Hail the Breen ships. Instruct them to break off their attack of the Borg ship." The Captain watched as the Borg ship zoomed past the Galaxy, heading towards Rigel 7. The Breen ships still firing their disrupters. The crew watched as the rounded ship began glowing in the upper atmosphere of Rigel. The Breen finally had to break off their attack.

"Track them. Helm, reestablish planetary orbit."

"Orbit reestablished Captain." Ensign Ti reported.

"Captain, the Borg ship has crash landed on the planet’s surface. They are no longer transmitting. I am detecting faint life signs, and they are fading Sir." T’Nevin’s report was right on que.

Turning on his heels, the Captain looked to Commander Jamson. "Commander, I want you to beam down to the crash site and look for survivors." Price glances over Jamson’s shoulder and sees Sterner and another security officer standing near the turbolift. "Take these two security officers and have Doctor Rousseau meet you in the transporter room."

The First officer nodded. "And what should we do if we find survivors Captain?"

"I want them brought on board Commander. We will transport them directly to the Brig, or to sickbay depending on Doctor Rousseau’s recommendations."

"Understood. Captain, might I ask why Sir? I mean.. they are Borg!" The Commander’s question wasn’t a breach of command protocol, just genuine curiosity.

Captain Price looks at Jamson. "The Borg are all one collective mind Commander. They all draw from the same knowledge base. They all share each other’s experiences. I am hoping that the Borg may know something about the cause of this Temporal anomaly we have experienced."

The Commander began to under stand the Captain’s tactics. "I see. That’s a good plan assuming we can find a way to extract the data from the Borg."

Glancing over to Counselor Shivok, Captain Price nods at the Commander. "I have an idea about that. Now hurry and get down there, I don’t know how long we have before the Borg sends another ship through the Warp Conduit."

"Aye Sir." Jamson says as he and the two security officers step onto the turbo lift. Before the doors slide closed, Jamson taps his comm badge.

"Doctor Rousseau, grab your medical kit and meet me in transporter room one. I’ll brief you there."

"Science Lab"

Ens. Chen was still off duty but working in the Science Lab trying to figure out what was going on. First the Breen ships attacked the Galaxy, then there was the warp conduit with possible temporal anomalies, then the away team reported the missing cities on Rigel 7, and now the warp conduit was destabilizing and a Borg scout ship was heading towards the Galaxy! It was information overload for Ens. Chen. She was tired but couldn’t bring herself to go to her quarters because the red alert was on again. If she could just try to concentrate on one thing.

She noticed from the security logs that Chief Jensen was still missing. Stephanie was thinking how the whole crisis seemed to start when the Galaxy went through that warp conduit when Lt T’Lein interrupted her thoughts.

[T’Lein to Chen.]

"Chen here sir."

[Counselor Shivok believes that Chief Jensen is still on this ship but trapped in an alternate universe. I believe it may have happened when we traveled through the warp conduit and the Chief may have been working on the transporter at the time. Please investigate.]

"Yes, sir."

[T’Lein out.]

Stephanie grabbed a tricorder from the Science Lab storeroom and headed for the transporter room.

Ens. Chen, Operations Officer
USS Galaxy

Chief Jensen ran out of Transportor room two after hearing that he was the only aboard the ship and walked over to the nearsest console. He touched the screen and was reaffirmed that there were no other life forms currently on Board. He then decided to make his way to the bridge.

Chief Jensen had never been on the bridge of the Galaxy before, but he knew the layout of it from studying up on the USS Galaxy deck plans. In fact there were many time when Chief Jensen went into the holodeck and ran a simulation as if he were the Captain of the ship, so he knew where everything was located and how much of the consoles worked.

When he stepped onto the bridge he was just amazed.....even though he knew what everything looked like and the size and all, he just felt the amazing power of the room. The first thing the Chief did was take a walk around the Bridge just to get a feel for it and then he sat down ot the Ops station. here he knew that he must try to open a hailing frequency, but this was something that he had never done. He sat there staring at the console until he finally gave up. He just didn't know what he could do. Then he had an idea: "Computer, I need instructions on how to open a hailing frequency" Jensen said.

"Communication operations are as follows......" the computer responded. Chief Jensen listen carefully to the instructions and politly thanked the computer when it was done. He then made the attempt to open a hailing frequency. But there was only a faint buzz. Jensen knew that he had failed at opening the frequency. He got up from the operations console and walked over to the science station.......But as he got there a sudden voice came across the entire Bridge......" Commander, As you have probably already detected on your long range scanners, a borg scout ship is on an intercept course and will arrive in this sector in approximately 2 minutes. The Galaxy can handle the situation and no assistance will be required by any of the Breen ships. I do not want to destroy the Borg ship. Understood?"

Jensen immediately knew that this was the Captain Price's voice. Jensen got up and ran over to the Ops console and tried to answer back but he couldn't.....it just wouldn't work. After trying to answer, Jensen just sat there with his forehead resting on the console knowing that he could hear the sub-space messages, the Captain was sending, but he could not answer them. He suddenly felt scared and alone when a new voice came across the bridge......."This is Jean-Luc Picard from the Enterprise.....I am now taking command of the fleet. On my mark direct all of your weapons on the coordinates of the borg ship that I will send you."..........after listening to this for a couple on minutes Jensen realized that the Borg were attacking both Earth and the USS Galaxy, but he didn't know why, where, and when. Just when Jensen thought that he was doomed he heard Picard's voice say "The Borg cube had been destroyed, but a small sphere escaped. We are going to follow the Borg into the Temporal distortion...please stand by." When Jensen heard this he began to understand what was happening....and that he might be stuck in the middle of it all.

Chief Jensen

"Captain, enemy ship coming into visual range, sir!" She did not let the borg ship unnerve her. In fact, it excited her to be engaging the Borg.

Ti monitered the Borg ship as it approached. "Captain! The Breen are attacking, sir."

"Raise Shields. Helmsman, plot an intercept course, full impulse," Captain Price ordered.

From his station, Coe's voice rang out, "Shields raised, Captain."

Ti plotted the intercept course as ordered and broke orbit from the planet. "Full impulse. Interception with the Borg ship in twenty seconds, sir."

Ti watched on as the Breen attacked using the same style as before in the attack against Galaxy. The Borg were not defending theirselves. The spherical ship was on a heading towards the planet.

"Captain, the Borg ship is still heading for Rigel 7. They have changed their course, now taking a reentry heading. I think they want to land on the planet, sir." The excitement was really getting to her now.

Ti's mind wandered to think of Jensen but was brought back by the captain order to reestablish planetry orbit. "Orbit reestablished, sir."

Things had slowed a bit a least on her part. She wandered where Jensen was. She could not help but to wonder if perhaps she had lost another friend. She felt drained. Today had been one stressful day and didn't look like it would be any better.

REPORT ON CURRENT SITUATION, STARDATE 49612.4
SUBMITTED TO CAPTAIN PRICE BY ENSIGN DEIRAN CASEY

Captain these are my findings on the Galaxy's current situation. I've analyzed this data many times, put it through the ship's main computer, and through the science department's computer and I believe this hypothesis and solution is 94.7% accurate. Which is quite satisfactory considering our circumstances.

The USS Galaxy and the Breen ships are in a temporal wake, which explains why the away team that went down to Rigel VII's surface reported the strange experience of sensing the presence of people, just out of their reach, even though they could not see them or contact them. I'm sure you're familiar with temporal wake's Captain, but for the record, a temporal wake is a side effect of time travel which causes nearby objects( size or the density of matter isn't important) to exist outside a timeline, and along with the ship or any scientific or explainable phenomenon, generates the distortion of objects which fluctuate in and out of their originating timeline.

That should explain the disappearance of life on the planet. But, I also analyzed the huge crater on the surface of Rigel VII and compared them with other planets that have been taken over by the Borg, it would seem that in this alternate reality the Borg assimilated the people of this planet, however the timeline is changing, i.e. the existence of the temporal wake.

At the time I'm writing this report to you we have just engaged the Borg, and Commander Jamson is on Rigel VII's surface. I do not have the details of that mission as of now. However I do have a way of getting the Galaxy and her crew back into our own time. Here is that theory: I recommend using a combination beam emitted from the navigation deflector array, consisting of dechyon energy( in the form of a beam) and an extremely low res neutrino emission beam to stabilize the warp conduit, the combination of dechyon and neutrino emissions is volatile, which is why the neutrino beam is set at low res and will enable the deflector array to keep the beam stable, this I can guarantee, I've tested it repeatedly on the ship's main computer and the new science lab computer. All the tests checked out perfectly.

The ship will be safe with shields at maximum and Lt. Capizzi monitoring the shield containment, the shields and the temporal wake should keep the Galaxy safe. One last piece to the puzzle, will be using the initial ion radiation pulse to keep the dechyon/neutrino beam accurately penetrating the warp conduit and making sure it is stable. The purpose of the ion radiation pulse, is to make sure the warp conduit does not close when the ship is passing through it to our own timeline.

Ensign Deiran Casey
Assist. Operations Officer
Alpha/Beta shift

Casey was glad to finish that report, he'd been working on it all during Alpha shift. Deiran selected the save function on the PADD and proceded to the Captain's chair, the short walk brought him to the Captain, "Sir, here's my report that you asked for," Casey handed the PADD to the Captain. Captain Price looked it over for a minute and looked up at Casey, "Good work Ensign, great job. I want you available to help Lt. T'Nevin, Ensign Mitchell and Lt. Capizzi implement this plan if we indeed need to use it. Understand 'mate?"

"Aye sir," Casey replied. Casey wanted to whistle Dixie so bad, but knew discretion was the better part of valor.

Captain Price dismissed Deiran. Casey turned around and was met by the gaze of Ensign Ti, she smiled discreetly and shyly at him. Casey returned a shy smile. Casey returned to his Ops aft station, returning to work on an assignment Lt. T'Lein had given him.

"I'm going to work up enough courage and nerve to ask Miran out on a date when this is all over," Casey thought to himself.

Bellen sat on a biobed trying her best to meditate. She concentrated on ensign Shtik's thoughts and feelings. Her mind ran throughout the station searching for that recognition...no, no, no...then she felt him. A vulcan's mind, concentrating on the consoles in front of him...but somewhere deep within him, so far that barely even D'tarna could find it, he was afraid. More for her than himself but afraid. Highly illogical for a vulcan to be self-sacrificing but for her he had made the exception. What was he afraid of? The answer came easier than she expected. One small word flooded into her mind. One small word. Borg. The borg were close.

She ran out of sickbay. Entering her room, she grabbed her own phaser and headed back. Once there, she sat again upon a biobed meditating...this time trying to find the borg's minds. She closed her eyes. She felt the ship disappearing, the coldness of space then slowly, her thoughts floated down to Rigel 7. Suddenly, the jolt of a borg mind. He'd been in the federation. Now lost in the collective. He was alive...barely.

Bellen fell out of the deep meditation to find Dr. Rousseau shaking her furiously.

"Bellen! Snap out of it!" Said the doctor. Bellen hit her communicator.

"Lt. Bellen to Captain Price."

[Go ahead Bellen]

"Sir, there is one borg alive down there. But it's dying...fast."

"Ensign Wadell, head for engineering and make sure that everyone is armed with their phasers on modulating frequencies. I’m heading for the bridge," ordered Capizzi.

" On my way," replied Wadell.

Skye had just gotten his bearings after beaming unexpectedly back to the GALAXY when Capizzi gave him his orders. He was still slightly woozy but made his feet move one after the other and made his way to the PIT. He had just made sure everyone was armed when Lt. Chiron entered engineering. Skye informed him of the red alert status and the fact that the Borg were on their way. Skye sure hoped that Chiron really did have a secret weapon slipped up his sleeve. He had read about the Borg encounters on subspace communiqués and they alone had made his skin crawl , now he had the opportunity to meet them face to face. "I guess you could call this an opportunity," mumbled Skye to himself as he went to find Lt. J.g. Kelea.

ENSIGN SKYE WADELL

"I have a bad feeling about all this."

Borg. At the very mention of the word, Jacqueline started flashing back to the last time a Borg ship made it through to Federation space, and it made her realize how much she despised Borg. They had needlessly killed over 11,000 Starfleet officers, including her father.

The crash site looked more like a junkyard with all the trash set fire. The metal of the cube was twisted and charred, still burning in places. The place smelled of burned-out circuits and thick, black smoke.

And burning flesh, the most disgusting smell Jacqueline ever cared to be acquainted with. Even with her very flexible stomach, she'd had a few problems keeping lunch down upon being met with something like this.

Commander Jamson turned to her. "Life signs, Doctor?"

By this time, she'd whipped her tricorder out and was scanning the site, seriously doubting ANYTHING could survive this.

She was more than suprised that she found a humanoid life form, with very faint life signs, close to her current location.

"Commander, I'm getting a reading. A Borg. Twenty meters..." She turned to her left. "This way."

She led the team over some mountains of tritanium, finally reaching the only surviving Borg.

It was her unwavering professionalism that kept her mind in "medical mode" and away form the feelings of satisfaction she was getting out of this. 'He was a normal, average person before this happened. He didn't deserve this fate. He didn't invite it. This man is not your enemy.' She had to repeat this to herself three times before she started to believe it.

Scanning the victim, she knew he needed help. Now.

"I need to get him back to sickbay immediately." She turned to Jamson, who nodded.

She sighed, then hit her commbadge. "Rousseau to Galaxy. Two to beam directly to sickbay."

She felt the transporter lock on and beam her away, her vision fading, until she saw the bright lights of sickbay and the face of Lt. Bellen become focused.

They got the Borg onto a biobed, then swung every single device that they could think of over it. After a few minutes of going over readouts and some computer generated probability scenarios, they unanimously decided on a course of action.

The Borg unit had been seriously injured, circuits having been blown off, and one of it's mechanical arms completely torn apart. It was a struggle to stablize it, but there was no hope of recovery unless they repaired all the damage to its cybernetic implants.

The only basis they had for this was the medical records and scientific logs from the Enterprise-D's encounters with the Borg. Dr. Beverly Crusher, Lt. Commander Data, and Lt. Commander Geordi LaForge had been the ones that worked hardest on the projects. It was their reports that had saved this unit.

"Good. That should do it." Jacqueline wiped her forehead, then backed away. "We're going to need a cyberneticist or something down here. We need to repair the rest of the damage."

Then she stopped to think. Who was most qualified for this?

Lt. JG Kelea heard the Red Alert klaxons resound as they went off throughout the ship. 'This is it,' she thought, though she neither knew why nor had the time to find out. She had already been preparing for duty and seconds later dashed out of her quarters, en route to the turbolift.

"Deck 36," she commanded as she stepped into the cab, barely pausing for the doors to close behind her.

The computer beeped in acknowledgement as the familiar sensation of a moving turbolift set in. A few moments later the doors opened and Kelea stepped out of the turbolift.

As quickly as was possible while maintaining some semblance of propriety, Kelea made her way to Main Engineering. Upon arriving she saw that preparations were already underway for a possible encounter with the enemy -- who that might be she did not fully know.

Kelea was handed a phaser which had been altered to modulate frequencies. Her suspicions were confirmed as an officer on duty informed her of the presence of the Borg, and quickly updated her on the current situation.

Kelea tapped her comm badge, "Lt. Kelea to Ens. Wadell."

[Skye here. I was just on my way to find you. Where are you, Lt.?]

"So I was told, Ensign. I have already reported to Main Engineering."

[Understood. Wadell out.]

Kelea tapped her comm badge once again, and took up her position, readying for whatever might come to both her and the Galaxy.

"On the surface again"

Lieutenant Sterner and Ensign Quall both were trying to stay as calm as possible when the Borg scout ship approached. The Breen ships attacked the Borg vessel, but to everyone's astonishment the Borg didn't return the fire. They just flew on towards Rigel 7. The scout ship was badly damaged and crash landed on the surface. Hoping that one of the five Borgs has possible survived the crash, Captain Price ordered Commander Jamson, Lieutenant Sterner, Ensign Quall, and Dr. Rousseau to find and bring back any survivors of the crash.

Quickly the three officers, that were present on the bridge, entered the turbo lift and were on their way to the transporter room to be beamed down to the surface again. Arriving at transporter room one, Dr. Rousseau already was waiting for them. They all stepped on the pads and Commander Jamson nodded to the transport officer to beam them down.

The crash site was a mess. The area around the lump of metal that once was the Borg scout ship was burnt and pieces of metal were everywhere. Dr. Rousseau quickly pulled out her medical tricorder and scanned for possible life signs. After a few moments she found what they were looking for.

"Commander, I'm getting a reading. A Borg. Twenty meters, this way." she said to Jamson. He gestured her to lead them to the source of her tricorder readout. A few meters away from the destroyed vessel they found a wounded Borg. Dr. Rousseau scanned him and concluded the only way to help would be in sickbay on the Galaxy. Jamson nodded his approval and the two were beamed back immediately. Then Jamson turned to the two security officers.

"We should search the remains of the ship if there are any clues that might help us to understand this situation." the Commander told them.

"Sir, if I may I would like to post an extra security guard in sickbay to keep an eye on the Borg." the Chief of Security interrupted the Commander before he could continue.

"Well Mr. Sterner I think the Doctor may find this very unpleasant, but I think it's in the best interest of the ship's security. Go ahead." Jamson answered.

While Joerg turned away to contact a security officer on the ship, Jamson ordered Ensign Quall to search the interior of the ship for anything that could help them.

"Sterner to Hutchcraft."

[Hutchcraft here sir.]

"At this moment the only Borg that survived the crash on the planet is being treated by Dr. Rousseau in sickbay. I want you the keep an eye on him and protect the ship from any possible threat he may pose."

[Understood sir. Hutchcraft out.]

Turning to the Commander again, Joerg saw Quall scanning the remains with his tricorder. Assuming that the Commander also had a task for him he waited.

"I also want you to collect as many data about this ship as possible Mr. Sterner."

"Understood sir." Joerg said and opened his tricorder and started to scan the area, as did the Commander himself. A few minutes later they all met again where they started the search.

"Your report Mr. Sterner" Jamson said.

"As much as I can say, this ship had no problems whatsoever. It appears it was fully functional before it was shot down by the Breen and crashed on the planet. The whole equipment aboard the vessel is now useless. Perhaps an engineer could find something useful in this mess, but I think there's nothing we could use to explain our situation here." Joerg concluded his report.

Jamson turned to Ensign Quall and asked "Have you found anything else Ensign?"

"Waiting for the Worms"

Walking quickly to Engineering with a bunch of Security grunts in tow, I shake my head. I'm sorry to have cut off the L.T. like that, but I just wish these people would treat me with a bit of respect. I'm not some tenderfoot Ensign fresh out of the Academy. I wonder if the Captain or the Commander told these people who I really am, what my rank really is. I don't think so, or else I wouldn't be taking orders from a Lieutenant.

But be that as it may, I'm just biding my time until I can make a move against the man who put me here, the corrupt Admiral who separated my wife and I, and who's using Starfleet resources for his own ends, who doesn't balk at killing innocent civilians for personal gains. Grigg found devastating evidence that that pirate attack I lost my fiancee at was engineered by him. He didn't count on the Marines killing most of the pirates, even if we failed to prevent the destruction of the passenger liner.

Sighing heavily, I clear my mind and enter Engineering. The place is awash with Engineers, monitoring panels everywhere, some scurrying around like mice in a maze. Gesturing to both sides, I give orders to my team, if I can call them that.

"Spread out. You, over there, by the 'pool table'. Watch that section and guard the Chief. Everyone stay tucked into corners, and if they appear, remember to rotate frequencies. If they match their shields, try using whatever you can. Brute force, rip their hoses out, tear their bionics off, anything. This is war, people."

Quickly they spread out. I take up a spot by the Chief Engineer's office, crossing my hands on my chest and watching the action.

In all the turmoil in Engineering, an Ensign walks up to me, a fierce look on his face.

"Ensign Hutchcraft, um, Sir, joining your team."

"So, Ensign, looking forward to the fight?"

The ensign stands a bit straighter, one sweaty palm tightening on the phaser. "YES SIR. I want to kill a Borg. I want to make them suffer".

"Excellent. Take a position over there. And when, or if, the Borg match our phaser frequencies, use brute force to take them out. Screw the *@#$ prisoners".

The ensign's eyes briefly open wide, then an evil, dark grin comes out. "No problem, Sir."

"Time is of the Essence"

T'Lein was very occupied with sorting through all the reports pouring in to the Ops station from throughout the ship. As he briefly but thourougly went through the reports, he sent out priority commmands to the most vital stations and departments on the ship...the one's he knew the Borg would invade if they had the chance to board the Galaxy.

At the moment, the Galaxy was in planetary orbit around Rigel VII and Commander Jamson on the surface looking for surviving Borg from the scout ship that crashed landed only minutes ago. T'Lein had a small hope(? if that's what you humans call it) that the commander would bring Borg back...he felt that it would be the ideal opportunity to study the cybernetic race.

Captain Price informed T'Lein of the report and theory Ensign Deiran Casey had about the Galaxy returning to her own timeline. T'Lein looked the report over (for his own perrogative) and told the captain that the odds were in the Galaxy's favor...there was a very high success rate for it to work.

As the reports continued to pour in, T'Lein wasted no time in his actions, because of the dangerously sensitive situation.

"Battle Stations"

The red alert signal sounded while K'arta was on duty, stationed outside the Tholians' quarters. Soon after the klaxon began, she recieved a message from Lt. Sterner. All security personell were required to protect the vital areas of the ship from the Borg.

Ensign K'arta had been assigned to guard the Tholians, and guard them she would. It seemed that most of the crew had forgotten about the important delagates on board. It was up to her to not let anything happen to them.

As she stood outside their quarters, she watched crew members rushing for their stations. She wondered what was going to happen next. Was the Galaxy going to engage the Borg? She prepared herself mentally for any possible situation.

"The waiting is the hardest part"

Sitting in the science labs of deck 15, Ens. Shtik looked at the human officers stationed there with him. Everything had been secured and they were simply waiting for what ever action that took place. The rest of the crew seemed to be looking to him for some kind of reasurance. Ironic they should look to a vulcan for emotionaly support.

"Perhaps it would be best to keep busy." He said to the others, "Ens. Storm, we need you to analyse records of past borg activities for possible opportunities. Ens. Syrain, continue to attempt to assertain the present location of Cheif Jensen, search all ship systems for random signals, his transporter signal may still be aboard hidden somewhere in the computer. Ens. Zane, gather all information on the effects of our time displacement. See if you can find out what reperations will be necessary for our return. We can not rule out the possibilitie that Chief Jensen has gone back in time and altered it somehow. Coordinate all of your activites with the other science labs. I will continue to monitor the situation as it developes."

"The Crash Site"

The commander jumped into action right as soon as the captain ordered him. He walked up to Sterner and Quall and entered the turbolift.

Quall admitted to himself that the others appeared a little more at ease. Probably since the Borg was no longer an immediate threat. During the ride, Quall thought about what he just witnessed on the bridge. He had just seen the finest ship's crew in action!

The turbolift halted, and the doors hissed open. The three made room for Doctor Rousseau. Quall noticed that she was carrying a medkit.

Ryan's mind began to scream... He was going to go and save a Borg... One of the collective who had destroyed his partner, not to mention the people who didn't make it out of the USS Aries... It was a continuous battle all the way to the transporter room.

The Commander lead the away team onto the transporter pad.

Sterner looked over at Quall, "Defensive positions, Quall. We don't want to take any chances." Sterner drew his phaser and got into a half crouching position, to be ready after the transport was complete.

Quall took out his phaser, and set it for low stun. Ryan thought about it for a second... and set the phaser to maximum stun. They are Borg, he thought. He also assumed a defensive posture.

Jamson signaled that the they were ready for transport.

"Just a second sir.", replied the transporter cheif. "There is some sort of gamma radiation leak to the south of the Borg vessel. It seems to be causing some interference. I'll get you as close as I can, sir."

"Energize."

The away team dematerialized...

Ryan had always been nervous with the transporter... Not before or after transport, just during. The feeling of being dissasembaled and flown across countless kilometres terrified him.

When they had rematerialized, Quall scanned the area with his tricorder. "No other lifesigns... the Borg is not active, sir." he reported.

"In what direction is the ship?" someone asked.

"This way, sir.", Quall jestured in the direction. That seemed to be a stupid question... surely you can see it... Quall looked up and saw what they had seen.

The away team had rematerialized in the slide path of the Borg ship. There were fires burning everywhere, and jagged pieces of debrie were everywhere. The slide path got deeper in the direction of the ship... but the ship was not visable. Thick, heavy black smoke was slowly climbing up the path; totally blocking your view of anything past a few metres.

Jamson began walking down the path, and the team followed. The smoke was everywhere, acting just like a thick fog.

Quall's heart jumped as the spherical hull of the Borg vessel appeared out of the darkness...

***Holodeck 2***

"Computer, end program" The Utopia Planitia Designs and Planning lab disappeared to be replaced by the black and yellow square panelling of the natural look of the holodeck.

The red alert klaxons had gone off and Lt. Capizzi had run off to engineering. Myself, though, I had been orderd to assist Ensign Chen in one of the transporter rooms. So as I ran down the corridors, I noticed that the usual amount of people had been reduced and more security guards were in place. I stopped to talk to one of the security guards.

"Whats all the fuss about, Ensign?"

The guard kept a stiff upper lip with eyes straight forward. "The Borg are here."

"I knew that, I was on the away team when it got pulled up because of the Borg ship."

"No, sir, thats not what I mean. I mean the Borg are HERE. In Sickbay."

Mitchells eyes went wide. "Thanks for letting me know, Ensign."

"Sir...I think you should assign yourself a modulating phaser, just in case."

"Uh, yeah...I'll do that." I'd better get going, if not to tell Ensign Chen.

**Transporter Room 2**

Ensign Chen had various parts of the transporter console on the floor when the red alert klaxon came through. "I wonder what's the problem now? That damn klaxon's giving me a headache with it going off every few minutes it seems. Its disrupting my work in getting Chief Jensen back."

"I might be able to help you there" A voice came from behind her. Chen spun around to see a man standing there.

"Sorry if I scared you, Ensign. My name is Ensign james Mitchell and I'm here to assist you. But we better get cracking, I just found out the Borg are on the ship."

"What! What are we doing here? We should be out there fighting them. And why are you so calm?"

"Well, for one thing, it is only one Borg, and he's in Sickbay. So our priority is to get this transporter online and bring Jensen home. As I was saying earlier, I've come up with an idea to get him back. If we create a static warp shell inside the conduit, we might be able to achieve a type of "no-time" bubble where only our quantum signatures are read and our own time is created within. If that happens, and Chief Jensen is on the ship in another timeline, then he should just phase back in, I hope. Got any ideas?"

-=-=- Ensign Hutchcraft's First Assignment(s) -=-=-

As Andrew asked the bartender for a Liam Sketcher, suddenly a red alert sounded. "Christ..." he thought to himself. He hailed Lt. Sterner

"Sir, can I help out with the borg menace in anyway?"

Sterner quickly responded

[Yes Ensign. You can help out Ensign Jeppo in engineering]

"Thanks sir. Ensign out"

With that he grabbed his phaser and marched towards engineering. Andrew thought to himself. He had always heard about the Borg and all the chaos they created. Andrew looked at them and thought about how the Borg was similar to so many people he had met as a child. Except the Borg were at least honest about what they were doing. His usual grin quickly became an aggresive frown, and he quickly gained speed with adrenline.

By the time Ensign Hutchcraft had reached Engineering, his face looked like that of a klingon in a field of romulans. He was sweating all over. He could see Major/Ensign Jeppo standing guard in engineering. He looked at him coldly.

"Ensign Hutchcraft, Sir, joining your team." his voice was not quite as fierce as before but he was still angry.

The Major looked back at him with a smile on his face. He looked significantly stronger than the Ensign, yet the Ensign did not relieve himself of his anger.

"So, Ensign, looking forward to the fight?" the Major queried.

Hutchcraft stood straight, clutched on his phasar even more than before and snarled...

"YES SIR. I want to kill a Borg. I want to make them suffer"

The Major looked almost surprised. Hutchcraft had always wandered what a marine would be like in real life, and to his surprise it wasn't bad at all ...

"Excellent. Take a position over there. And when, or if, the Borg match our phaser frequencies, use brute force to take them out. Screw the *@#$ prisoners".

Ensign grinned with delight with the Major's lack of protocol. He expected a lot more seriousness from a ranking marine. He had certainly lost a few stereotypes. Andrew quickly walked towards where Jeppo had pointed him towards.

Moments later, the Red Alert ended, much to the Ensigns dismay. It wasnt long however, until Ensign Hutchcraft recieved a hail

[Sterner to Hutchcraft.]

"I'm here sir" ... Hutchcraft still felt a bit of energy in his body, and was very ready to do whatever Sterner was requesting.

[At this moment the only Borg that survived the crash on the planet is being treated by Dr. Rousseau in sickbay. I want you the keep an eye on him and protect the ship from any possible threat he may pose.]

"Understood Sir" Hutchcraft gave Jeppo a quick march towards Sickbay. "Maybe I'll have some fun after all ...."

While he marched towards sickbay, he quickly reminded himself to make a note to Liam ASAP.....

He walked into sickbay slighty less aggresive, got back his grin, then saw the Borg lying on a bed. He clutched his phasar and made his way towards the Borg and Dr. Rousseau
