"Meeting with Old Friends - Part I"
by Lt Cmdr K'Eytyanna Samara,
Assistant Chief, Engineering

After pulling three shifts in a row, Kay realised that she would have to take some leave eventually.

Changing into some comfortable clothes, she headed to a transporter room and beamed down to Risa.

Arriving in one of the transit centers, K'Eytyanna removed her top and headed out into the main city. She felt very nervous due to not being able to bring her d'k tagh down with her, but she knew that it would not be proper for a Starfleet officer to flaunt a no-weapons policy of one of the Federation member planets.

Nearby, a Ferengi was running a street-store that looked interesting. Heading over to the stall, she ignored the happy look from the Ferengi, who's eyesight was at chest level.

Moving into the stall, Kay started examining merchandise. Suddenly, she felt something soft, warm but resilient wrap around her arm.

Quickly looking down, she saw that it was a tawny brown tail connected to somebody. Turning her head, she followed the tail up until she was looking into the face of an old friend.

Smiling, she excalimed,

"Brightspot! I haven't seen you in ages. What are you doing here?"

The blue-eyed Sivaoan female smiled back and hugged Kay tightly, wrapping her tail around Kay's arm even more.

Brightspot finally let go before remarking, "I came here to meet up with somebody you will know. Wanna come along?"

Kay nodded and the pair moved down the street. As they did, K'Eytyanna rembered back to her days in the Academy and the happy times with Brighspot, even the sort of things that the tail could be used for.

***********************

Jevran Illaria drained her orange juice and looked upto see Brightspot cartwheeling down the road.

Suddenly, she felt the chair tipping back as an arm grabbed around her throat. Gasping, she tried to grab the table but failed. When she crashed to the ground, she looked up and smiled,

"K'Eytyanna! I should have known only you would do that."

Kay helped the Trill science officer get up as Brightspot came over to the cafe table. When a waiter came around, the trio ordered non-alcoholic drinks in deference to Brightspot's intense sense of smell.

An edgy feeling
By Councsellor Tabbatha- Jade Morax

-Risa's hoilday cabins

Tabbatha awoke with a fright a strange feeling crept over her jumping out of bed she ran across the room got dressed and tapped her comm badge "one to beam up". With in moments Tabbatha had apeard on the galaxy once agin

"I thought you were still on leave" the person behind the console asked.

Glaring at her Tabbatha stepped of the platform and agressivly made her way across the room and exited with out saying a word.

Enntering her quarters she raffeld through her wardrobe throwing clothes every where.

Pulling on her Klingon clothing she tapped her comm badge again "I've left something on the planet surface please transport me directly from here to the planet" Tabbatha said

"Ok just a moment" a voice said

A few momments later Tabbatha found herslf standing on the planet again. Making her way towards a forested area she found a clearing on which the was a klingon shuttle, the shuttle doors open and out stepped Tabbathas father. Tabbatha took a deep breath a stepped towards him "Your brother is he dead" her father asked "I don't know" Tabbatha said a bit stunned at her fathers coldness

"and this is where you end up in Star Fleet, I'm glad you left your no daughter of mine" He said with venom in his voice "How dare you" she screamed at him "Your weak" he replied

"How did you know where I was" she asked calming herself again

"i always knew where you and your brother where" he replied coldly

"and you never helped us" Tabbatha said

Finaaly she brock pulling her badtleth out she slashed out at her father, Laughing he grabbed it a pulled it out of her hands "You always were weak" he said turning around and stepping in to the shuttle he looked over at her.

Tabbatha stood her head up high "only the weak leave there children to suffer and die:" she snarled at him as he threw her Batdleth at her feet.

As she turned to walk away she heard a load bang and everything went blank.

"Old School Paladin in His Academy Days"
by, William Bolitho,
playing Lt. Raesene Hermedhie,
Acting Chief Tactical Officer,
U.S.S. Galaxy

Though this day was of great interest to Raesene, he found that his mind was beginning to wander back to the days when he had been in training for his current position.

***2370***

The buildings of the Academy gleamed in the Terran sun. But young Raesene Hermedhie did not have time to admire them. He had to get to his class on Combat Tactics, under Lt. Comdr. Justin Leonov. After that it was the Sophomore Federation History class, under Comdr. Hydel Pontifax. In an earlier time, that man would have had Sir in front of his name.

But these were not the real reasons for his concern. No, the real reason was his origins. He was not from one of the usual places a Cadet came from. He was Andu, one of the six human cultures of Cerilia, on the planet Aebrynnis.

He had been born in the Arch Duchy of Boeruine to lowly parents, and had become a paladin to Cuiraécen, god of battle in his formative years. Then, at age 15, he had joined with a eclectic group of adventurers, and travelled around slaying evil. Until they came to the site of the Battle of Deismaar.

The freak energies that had been unleashed at that battle had been immense. As such, there were tendrils of that energy still floating around the site. One of these tendrils seized Raesene and flung him through time and space to the orb called Earth.

After being studied by all sorts of scientists, he had been allowed to join StarFleet. Now in his second year at the Academy, Raesene found that he was still an outsider. He spoke something akin to Norman English, or Old French. And he was from a culture akin to the Renaissance, sans gunpowder weapons, not from a post-Warp society.

As such, he also had to learn more about this culture. While keeping some of his strange practices. Including prayers to his divine liege. No, the rest of his peers did not understand him. If they could truly be called peers. And that left Raesene as a lone wolf in a large universe.

Entering the Tactics class, he got ready to go over the tactics that had won the First Romulan-Earth War. These were basic tactics related to the use of Tactical and Strategic Nuclear Weapons. These were the main weapons used as phasers and photon torpedoes had yet to be invented.

Of course, there was also the tactics of Colonel Howell A. Bridger, the Flying Dutchman. His use of rudimentary lasers had been impressive, where used. Before he had disappeared again. Now there was a man who had understood temporal shifts. He himself had been caught in many.

But the class was really boring to those who did not have the warrior intellect. Raesene, having been trained as one in another time and place, loved those strange concepts, and studied them intensely. Nothing less would do.

It was the second best subject for Raesene. The most interesting was History of the Federation. And of Earth. Especially that of the Third World War. The records of that time were few and far between, but they did state how the Federation had gotten some of its principles.

*** 2375 ***

Coming out of his reverie as his Best Man arrived, Raesene prepared himself for the coming event. Probably the best of his young life.

"Kidnapped"
By Counsellor Tabbatha-Jade Morax

As Tabbatha awoke she lifted her hand to her head she had large bump on the back of her head, groning she stood up she appeared to be on a Klingon bird of prey. Liftin her hand to tapp her comm badge she found that it was not there. The area she was in was dark it took her a while to find her barings. Walking towards the lighted area she noitced that the ship was very quiet making her way to the bridge of the vessel she found her father sitting there.

"I was waiting for you wake up" he said as she walked towards him "I demand you take me back" she almost yelled "No daughter of mine is going to serve in Star Fleet" he said with authourity in his voice

Realising that she would not be able to reason with him she turned to ask him "Where are we"

"not to far from Risa but far enough away for you not to get back" hhe said with almost a grin

Sitting down she looked over at him "Please father I do not wish to leave Star Fleet I am truely happy for the first time since we....I left" she began to say "I have alreay told you no child of mine will serve in star fleet" he snapped "I have not been your child for a long time" she returned

"Silence" he screammed "you are my child, weather you like it or not" "I'am no longer a child" she scream unable to restrain her self.

Leaping across the room Tabbatha took her father by surprise with all her might she knocked her father unconsious. Standing up she draged him to a near by room and locked it so he would not be able to get out when he woke.

Working quickly she brought the bird of prey out of warp speed ~years of star fleet training helped even if I am a counsellor~ she thought changeing the coordinates she took the brid of prey in to warp speed again heading straight back to risa.

**** A while later*****

Tabbatha came in to range of the Galaxy hailing them "USS Galaxy this is ensign Tabbatha Jade Morax requesting permisson to beam aboard from the Kilngon Bird of Prey"

There was a long pause "Permission granted" the Galaxy returned.

Resetting the coordinations and setting it on auto pilot with a time delay. Tabbatha hailed the Galaxy "ready to beam abourd"

Seconds latershe was back abourd the Galaxy as the Klingon Bird of prey auto piloted out of the Risan system. Steping off the transporter platform she smiled as she saw the star fleet uniform "Hi" she said as she exited the room. What was confusing was why her father would kidnapp her using a uncrewed Bird of Prey and all these years later there was something not right with this.

Making her way to sick bay she had her bump checked out she had told them she had fallen on Risa there was no reason to tell every one what had happend.

"Childish Thoughts"

Lt. J. Lucas Brandis, Zea Toa
Chief of Operations

Lt. Yazron Beq
Tactical Officer

**** Turbo Lift ****

"Deck 14."

The turbolift began to move and Yaz looked down at Keiran in his arms. His light skin, and the contrasting Trill spots made his appearance all the cuter. "It's too bad I don't know what your thinking." Yaz said to him in his 'baby voice'. Keiran was smiling and holding onto Yaz's pinkie. "Just as long as it's not a girl already." He warned mockingly, and Keiran girgled, causing Yaz to chuckle.

The turbolift stopped at Deck 10 and none other than Jonathan Lucas Brandis came into the 'lift.

"Lucas!" Yaz exclaimed as he saw who it was, he hadn't had a chance to talk to Lucas since he arrived back from the 'fishing trip'. "Long time no-see! How's life?"

"Amazingly complex and overly propagated with individuality which conflicts with the personal duties of others." Lucas said flatly.

"You haven't had your morning Pepsi, yet, have you?" Yaz said, moving aside so Lucas could enter.

"Nope, haven't had a chance. Seems like there's something going on around here that I don't know about." Lucas stated thoughtfully then hearing his God son burp, notice him for the first time in his pondering. "Hello, little Keiran, how's my Godson doing this morning better than me I hope?"

Keiran seemed to shy away into his father's chest at the new found attention. Lucas could only make out a few of the baby's thoughts; he was so new to the world.

'Umpa, blue, umpa, blue, umpa.' Keiran thought, while pointing to Lucas' eyes.

"What's he thinking?" Lucas said out loud before realising. "My eyes."

Yaz raised his eyebrow, was Lucas finally going around the bend? "Something the matter?"

"No, nothing's wrong, Keiran just wants you to look at my eyes because they're changing colours." Lucas laughed. "Don't worry, it's perfectly normal, Keiran, especially when I’m annoyed."

Yaz smiled, his son was a curious little thing, he often regretted the fact that unlike Lorraine and Lucas he couldn't read his mind. "So what's this that's troubling you?" Yaz asked, referring to his friends out of character mood.

"It's nothing, I hope. But, Alexa hasn't even given me the time of day lately. We were going so well and now she's just... Well, it's like she's ignoring me completely." Lucas confided in his friend.

Yaz shrugged. "Perhaps she's just busy, the counselling department isn't the largest after all..."

"That's what I thought but then, I check her duty log and she's officially on leave for a few days, while the crew's on Risa." Lucas look up at the opening Turbo Lift doors.

Yaz shrugged. "I don't pretend to understand women sometimes." He took a moment to tickle Keiran's chin. "Do you have anything planned?" Yaz asked. "We were going to find Lorraine and then take some leave on Risa, care to join us?"

"Yeah, well I wanted to check a log in my quarters. I'm waiting for a transmission from Star Fleet Academy. An old teacher made a double quark stasis field that he said might work with my neural net projects. You wanna come with me, it'll only be a sec?"

"Sure," Yaz replied with a smile. "I'm sure the little guy wouldn't mind seeing whether his Godfather stays."

“Actually, he’s thinking how come he hasn’t fallen down yet, since before he always hurts himself falling, I guess. Well, now he want’s to suck your finger again. Kids!” Lucas laughed.

Yaz smiled as the turbolift doors opened. "So who is this Academy professor, I may know him..."

“Professor Nyzahaochikichaochikaikiah, we all called him Professor for short!” Lucas remembered with a chuckle.

Yaz thought for a moment. "Cant' say I remember the name...no wait, I think he gave us a few lectures back in advanced Tech. class."

“Well, he prefered to be called Admiral, but yeah, I’m sure he did teach a few of those.”

Yaz gave Keiran a gentle rock as they rounded a corner, only to stop as he saw a party of people gathered outside Lucas' quarters. Yaz leaned over to his ear. "Looks like you have some important company."

Lucas was paralyzed. There was no way his mother could have gotten onboard without his knowing. It could only be his mother, who else would have the Royal Guards of the First House. Strange that there were only two of them standing watch. Usually there were at least twelve. “No... this just can’t be happening now, what the hell could she possibly be here for. I knew she was up to something.

Yaz throught it was a good thing Lucas was dating a counsellor, because at the moment, sanity didn’t abound. “Er... Lucas, is this a bad time?”

“No,” Lucas swallowed hard, safety in numbers. “Yaz, have you met my Mother?”

"I don't believe so, Lucas." Yaz stated with some humor. "It's rare for the commoners to mingle with royalty; so, I'm sure I'd have remembered."

“Well, that’s a shame, come along then and behold choas in all it’s insanity.” Lucas thought before finishing with... “And brace yourself.”

"The end of a long day's night"
by Captain Robert Edward Lee Price

Captain Price was dead tired. It had been one long day for the Commanding Officer of the Starship Galaxy. What had began as his first day of shore leave had soon turned into a full day of work. First, Admiral Casey had unexpectantly arrived after Lee had just made love to his girl friend, Yeoman York. That lead to the Captain having to return to the ship to assemble a team of crew members to accompany the Admiral to Nerinda Minor on a covert surveillance mission there. To complicate matters, her royal majesty, Zea Vicea Heero Brandis, had arrived to surprise her son, Lieutenant Brandis and had insisted the Captain give her a grand, full diplomatic tour of the USS Galaxy while she was on board. That took up the better part of the afternoon and early evening. Lee had just finished briefing the away team that were assigned to accompany the Casey's to Nerinda Minor, and had watched them all beam over to the Latinum Prince, the Ferengi merchant freighter they intended to use to cover their presence at the secret meeting the Admiral hoped to capture with their surveillance equipment. Given the long day, all Lee wanted to do next was beam back to Risa and collapse.

The Captain transported back down to the boardwalk resort hotel to his suite there on the 14th floor. Jamie was still up, her rail riffle was still on the table from the skeet shooting trip they were both supposed to go on that afternoon before Lee was called back to the ship by Admiral Casey. Lee unfastened his dress white jacket and began removing it with a sigh. He figured Jamie would be upset with him, even though there really wasn't anything he could have done about being called back to duty. Doctors and Starfleet Captains rarely got to put their personal lives before their careers. He only hoped Jamie understood that.

"Decided to come back did you?" Jamie's seductive voice called out from across the dimly lit room.

Lee turned around, placing his jacket on the back of a chair and smiling at the Yeoman where she stood. Jamie was wearing a green silk robe which accented her golden suntan, and leaning against the door jab to the adjoining bedroom. "Finally 'mate. I got the Admiral off safely with a half dozen crewmen from the Galaxy to lend a hand. And even managed to show Zea Brandis around the decks of the Galaxy. So I'm finally all yours."

Jamie crossed her arms in a mock gesture of jealousy, "I suppose you enjoyed showing that tramp Troi around the ship as well?"

"No worries miss York. You're the only tramp I'm interested in at the moment." Lee smiled.

Jamie tried to fake a hurt, shocked expression at the Captain's words, but she was simply too happy at seeing him to maintain the charade for very long. Slowly she moved towards him. "Tramp huh? I should slap you for calling me that."

Lee smiled as he looked into her eyes. "Maybe you should 'mate."

"My,. . . aren't we the kinky one this evening?" Jamie teased.

"I'm just glad I get to keep you all to myself for the remainder of our leave." Lee signed as he held Jamie in his arms and gave her a gentle kiss.

The Yeoman pulled back and caught her breath before replying, "Except for tomorrow. . ."

"Tomorrow?" Lee asked with a puzzled look.

"Tomorrow." Jamie said sternly in disbelief. "The wedding? You haven't forgotten?"

Looking upwards, the Captain remembered the wedding between Lieutenants Hermedhie and Mhistecai. He'd forgotten about it with all of the recent activity with the Admiral and Zea and everything. "Oh, yes, of course. I remember the wedding." Lee smiled, "That's tomorrow?"

"It is!" Jamie pushed him away. "I want to show you the dress I picked out for it." she declared excitedly, rushing into the other room.

"I thought we went over that already the other day. . ." Lee stated.

"That was before I knew it was a Medieval ceremony." Jamie called out from the other room. She then reentered holding up a flowing dress fit for a princess. "How do you like it?" she modeled it against her body.

"It's lovely my lady. But neigh a pittance when laid upon one so fair as ye in contrast." Lee bowed.

Jamie smiled. "Would you like to see your outfit?"

"Fair dinkum." Lee stated, stepping over to he bedroom.

"Yours is hanging there." Jamie pointed and suppressed a giggle.

Lee stepped over and picked up the brown monk's robe. "This is it?"

Jamie nodded, trying desperately not to laugh.

"Why it's shorter than your dress. And certainly not very flashy." Captain Price stated.

"The rope belt and sandals that go with it are over there. The monks of this time period were humble men. They did not dress to impress but rather for comfort and functionality. I think it's cute."

Lee rolled his eyes. "You would. You don't have to wear it. No worries. It's the least I can do to make Raesene and Dierdren's wedding everything they want it to be."

Jamie replaced her dress on the wall hangar and then took Lee's from him, stowing it away so it wouldn't get wrinkled. She then walked over and lit a couple of large white candles which helped to set the mood. The Risan moon cast an impressive light on the breaking waves of the surf 14 stories below, but the candle light in their bedroom added a warmer, more passionate glow. Disrobing, Jamie climbed into their bed and patted the area beside her. "Coming to bed Lee?"

With a nod Captain Price undressed and climbed in after a long days work. Finally he was were he wanted to be all day long. At Jamie's side, alone. As the couple cuddled and began renewing their relationship for the evening, Lee hoped that after the wedding tomorrow, that there would be no more interruptions with his shore leave with Yeoman York.

"A Wedding of Tradition"
by, Lt. Raesene Hermedhie,
Anxious Groom,
Lt. (j.g.) Dierdren Mhistecai,
Blushing Bride,
Capt. Lee Price,
Acting Priest,
Lt. Yazron Beq,
Best Man,
Lt. (j.g.) Sela Grey, MD
Maid of Honor,

Raesene stood at the apex of the massive castle wall overlooking the sea. He was dressed in a glittering set of half plate armor, awaiting the arrival of the rest of the group that would participate in the wedding.

Yaz felt a bit strange as he entered the holo-deck, the plate armour he sported had drawn a few looks from fellow offcers as he passed, but hanging around Lucas was paying off and he wasn't as self-conscious about it as he normally would have been. "Good Afternoon." He said as he approached Raesene. "I hope this is the correct dress." He motioned to the ancient Terran plate armour.

Raesene glanced at it. "More than adequate. Makes you look like one of the Arch Dukes of Anuire."

Yaz smiled proudly. "Sounds like a grand title." He mused. "Do I get a sword with that job?" He asked, jokingly.

Raesene smiled. "Sort of. In the Anuirean Empire there are twelve Duchys. They only answer to the Emperor and his Chamberlain. Of these, the Duchies of Avanil and Boeruine are strongest. And the city," pointing to the other side of the castle, "out there is Seaharrow, capital of Boeruine. We are in the Arch Duke's castle."

Yaz put a hand to his mouth. "I'd better watch what I'm saying then." He smiled.

Raesene laughed. "Probably. Though I would not be surprised if he's off on some campaign or another."

Yaz smiled. "Sounds like the Medieval times of Earth, King Richard, the crusades and all." He referred to one of his history classes.

"Mayhaps. But I fear that this 'Crusade' is against the Prince of Avanil." He looked at Yaz. "Much has changed since I lived on Aebrynnis. I was there when the Empire began. But Dierdren lived 551 years after its end. Now Anuire has many different nations fighting for the Iron Throne."

"You really should tell me the whole story sometime, you've tickled my interest." He smiled. "Now just what exactly am I meant to do again?" This would be the third time Raesene had explained it, but he wanted it all to go perfect.

"Perhaps both of us shall. As for the ceremony, all you have to do is stand there keeping me company, and trying to calm my nerves." He reached into his pocket,

"Oh, and present these to Captain Price when he asks for them." His hand came out holding a set of Anuirean wedding bracelets, and handed them to Yaz.

Yaz smiled. "I can do that." He assured Raesene. "As long as I don't drop them..."

Raesene nodded. "Just don't try them on. They are supposed to be of magical properties." Seeing Yaz's look, he continued, "They are from my homeland. They were blessed by a magician before I left. When put on, they give divination abilities to the wearers. Sort of a psionic link between the bride and groom."

"Ah, I see." Yaz said. "I think I'll just leave them in here then." He tapped the container which currently held them.

"Probably a good idea. They may be the last of their type. In fact, I'm unsure how many were ever made."

"How anyone is expected to walk in these outfits is a mystery to me." Captain Price's voice could be heard as he and Yeoman York came entering the open garden orchard on the roof top of the grand castle overlooking the ocean that Raesene had selected as the holodeck site for his and Deirdren's wedding.

Yeoman York shook her head, "What are you worrying about? At least you don't have a huge victorian train dragging behind you and pulling what little of your dress down even further than it already is." Jamie scolded hoisting up her corsetted low cut dress top.

Lee smiled. Jamie looked lovely in her flowing antique dress. Much more so than he felt in his humble monks outfit. Captain Price had chosen to wear the common monk's robes rather than play along with the Castle setting and dawn the King's outfit, since this was really Raesene and Deirdren's day. They were the ones that were supposed to stand out with their shinning armor and glamorous dressings. This was a day for the two of them.

"Well, you look bonzer my lady. It's almost enough to make a humble monk break his oath of celibacy." Lee smiled.

"What do you mean 'almost'?" Jamie teased, whipping out a colorful fan and waving it across her face as she raised her nose and walked away in mock disgust at the "insult" the common monk had delivered.

The Captain just shook his head, before gathering up his oversized robe to keep his sandaled feet from tripping on the brown garment and began walking to where the ceremony was to take place.

***

Dierdren stood in the bridal room, preparing herself for what appeared to be the best day of her life. Also there, were her maids of honor and the flower girls that were preparing to begin the procession. Luckilly, there were enough children about to garner some of them for the task.

She could not help but watch the little ones. They were so cute in their little dresses. She wondered about how many of the little ones Raesene might want to have. She was currently set on a rather low number for Anuireans... Ten. Of course, being from a culture that had wars every spring through fall did lend itself to a large number of children...

But now was the time to put together the dress that her mother had given her for just this occasion. It was a beautiful thing, with all sorts of ruffles and lace flourishes. It seemed quite a dress to wear only once, but that was the way with Anuirean wedding dresses. It was probably already out of style in her homeland. But one never knew.

Sela Grey watched Dierdren. She went over, helping Dierdren get into her dress. By the time they were done, Dierdren looked beautiful.

"Well Dierdren, this is it. I can't believe that you are really getting married." Sela had tears in her eyes. "I always knew that you would be the first one to get married in our little group. You're lucky." They hugged each other. "So, are you nervous? Any second thoughts?"

"Lucky? Perhaps. But you will eventually be just as lucky. As for how I feel. Excited. Maybe a little nervous. But there are no second thoughts. He is worth it."

"I'm glad. Well kiddo, I wish you the best. And you're right, he's worth it." Sela checked herself one more time to make sure that she hadn't forgotten anything. She had... Terran traditions. "I almost forgot." She pulled out a blue sapphire heart necklace. "Here, I want you to wear this. There is a tradition among the humans. Actually, it's a saying. It goes, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. This necklace should take care of all four. It is from the 20th century, Earth and it used to be my mothers. I replicated a new chain for it and it's blue." She smiles, "It's supposed to bring you good luck. Silly, I know."

Dierdren tooked the offered necklace and glanced at it, before putting it on. "I do not think it to be silly. We Anuireans believe in good luck. Along with other things." She looked distantly, "Like magic and ancient gods."

"Magic? That's yet to come." She smiled. Sela went to the door where she would be walking out of. She glanced behind her and winked at her, letting her know that things were perfect.

"I certainly hope so," she mumbled. "I wasn't born into the most magical of circumstances."

"Going Home"
by Lieutenant J.g. Elaiithin Jii, Security

Federation Starbase Babylon. On the outskirts of the Calderon system, a young Starfleet officer, Bajoran (in a region that didn't see too many of them) sat nursing a raktajino at a place called the Starlight Lounge. Under the bay windows. The bartender, a half-catian, half-human was also the frieghter pilot supplying transport to back to a specific assignment for the young Lieutenant.

Transport back to the U.S.S. Galaxy....home.

An old terran song was playing in the bar. Many of the humans in Starfleet had a fascination for old music, of that planet's twentieth century. That carried over in the selections sentients made from the music system in the combine bar and club. Come in and you might hear Human Rock, Andorian Blues, or Bolian synth.

The young Bajoran listened to the song that had just started. Interesting beat, he mused, and identified a human guitar amongst the instruments.

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby it just happens ev'ry day

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facin' up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you

If I look hard enough into the settin' sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

Hmm, hmm, hmm,hmm hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm hmmm...

I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black

The song faded out at that point, and the young Bajoran was surprised to find it had absorbed his attention entirely. "I'd hate to be that guy." he said, mainly to himself. Though of late...the usually friendly Bajoran could sympathize with that sort of despair and morbidity. He thought of the three weeks he'd lain in the hospital bed. He thought of the eight weeks of medical leave, spent mostly on Earth, before the Doctors decided he was fit enough to return to duty.

The young Bajoran started reviewing the choices he's made....he'd gotten a message from Rotan, he was now Chief of Security on the USS Cairo.

And he'd gotten two other messages...ones he'd refused.

Chief of Security for the USS Montezuma...a new Nova-Class Border cutter. Another offer for Assisstant Chief of Security on the Venture. Jii was certain why he'd turned them down.....only that they didn't feel right, somehow.

"Lieutenant" a deep feleniod voice purred.

"Yes?" the Bajoran answered, looking up at Damon Greyheart, freighter pilot, bartender, and, if all that were whispered were true, a smuggler on the side of the angels.

He was also one of Elaiithin's oldest friends, from the days he'd offered the then-teenaged Bajoran assisstance during the Occupation.

"Ready to go?" Damon asked.

"Yeah," Elaiithin responded. "It's time to go home."

"Enough of Vacation"
by Lt. T'Zaq

T'Zaq stumbled down the ramp of Nigel's ship out into the sunlight. She felt a little disoriented still. Well... that was understandable, her mind rationalized. After all, it wasn't every day she ended up in bed with some Orion she had just met.

She fumbled around in her beach bag for her communicator. She had had enough of this vacation - it was definitely time to go home.

"T'Zaq to Galaxy... one to beam up."

Moments later, only a fading shower of purple sparkles remained where the half-Vulcan had been standing.

T'Zaq made a beeline for her quarters, and most importantly, a nice hot shower. She felt somehow rather dirty after last night, even despite her normally less-than-perfectly-chaste sexual habits.

After a suitably long time standing underneath the hot water, she slipped into a comfortable tank top and shorts and curled up with a padd. In her little fantasy world, she had to build, design, and sustain a city with only a certain amount of money. Currently, the residents were restless. They denounced the water system and quality of education. T'Zaq placed a few more schools and set up a reverse-osmosis filtering system next to the estuary. Figuring it would satisfy the population for the present, she deactivated the padd and set it on her nightstand. Somehow, the game failed to have its usual appeal to her.

She sighed and laid back on the pillow, soon falling into a deep, dreamless sleep.

"Latinum Love Affairs" by:
Lieutenant (JG) Viara Rhys
Ensign Franklin Stone

Stone's footsteps could be heard echoing through the corridor a she walked towards Cargo Bay 2 and the briefing that the Captain had promised. His stride held purpose and his demeanor was once again as placid as a frozen lake. His Zen-like calm had once again taken control, and Franklin was focused on the mission at hand.

Of course, that all disappeared once he turned the corner and saw Viara waiting outside the cargo bay. He stopped and blinked at her a moment before becoming very aware that he was being very obvious. He started walking again and came to a stop at Viara's side as they both entered the cargo bay.

The two said nothing until the Captain had briefed the Away Team and the paired had beamed onto the Latinum Prince.

"Lieutenant. May I ask why you are here? That is, why were you picked for the mission?" Asked Stone as the pair headed out of the Ferengi Transporter Room.

“Who else do you know that can reconfigure a sensor array in 20 seconds flat? Besides, the Captain has ordered me on this mission.” Said Viara in a stoic tone.

"I see" Stone said. Now he was really lost. His sense of internal balance was shot, and his calm exterior was showing a bit of strain.

He couldn't help but feel elated that Viara was coming along, but he was also concerned for her safety and for his own ability to perform his duties. He wondered if he could concentrate with her around.

Before Viara could say anything more Stone seized the opportunity and blurted out his prepared explanation.

"I feel I should apologize for not showing up at our scheduled meeting. I was detained with the search for Ensign Thorne."

“That’s all right, I’ll find a way to make you redeem yourself.” Said Viara in a coy tone and wide grin.

With that comment, the Ensign's face blushed with a red hue. Viara just continued to smirk.

"So Ensign, have you ever ridden in one of these?" Asked Viara as she looked over her shoulder at the following Ensign.

"I have actually, during my trip from Mar Beta Prime to Earth. I was able to charter a ride on a smaller Ferengi ship than this one." Stone watched Viara...admired her actually...as she moved along ahead of him. She was so unlike the women he had known on Mar Beta Prime. So...undisciplined! Yet so in control as well.

"Ah, I see. They ride pretty rough, but I guess I like a rough ride, more so than most." Viara said, trying to see just how strong, Stone's 'cold exterior' really was.

Stone cleared his throat at that comment, and began to wonder if someone was playing with the environmental controls...it seemed to be getting warmer in here as time went by.

"Indeed?" he finally said...he knew he had to say something, but just wasn't certain what. "I take it then you don't suffer from...motion sickness?"

As the words left his mouth, Stone rolled his eyes. His world didn't have much in the way of subtlety, and double meanings were as rare as tall people were. As he spoke, he began to realize what he had said, and all the thousands of ways it could be twisted around. He at least hoped that Viara was enjoying herself.

"A Rhys has never been fearful of motion." Said Viara with a wink.

The pair finally came across a small Lounge. A few Ferengi Crew Members sat drinking Thal'kil and eating the grubs, their species is so known for.

"Perhaps, we should get a bite to eat?" Said Viara as she led Stone into the Lounge. Stone frowned at the sight of the Ferengi eating. He wasn't certain which he disliked more, the food or the sight of them eating the food. "Perhaps I should pass. I was able to avoid the food on the last Ferengi ship I rode on..."

"Oh come on, you haven't lived until you've tried some grubs." Said Viara with a wide grin.

"That I can believe" Franklin muttered as he reluctantly followed Viara. Within a few minutes they had found a table and each had a plate of grubs in front of them. The Ferengi in the room were openly checking out Viara, to the point where a few of them were actually drooling. Stone scowled at them, despite his height, they took the hint.

“What’s wrong? Never seen a Ferengi try to get some Oo-Max?” Said Viara with a grin.

Stone didn't know what 'Oo-Max' was, and knowing Ferengi, he didn't want to know. He eyed his bowl of grubs and took a deep breath before spooning a small amount into his mouth.

It was an interesting sensation, to say the least, as the grubs slid down his throat...He paused a moment and savored it. "Tastes like chicken."

“Really? I wouldn’t know, I’ve never been one for Ferengi cuisine. But, I’d say we’re even.” Said Viara with a smirk as she covered her grubs.

Franklin froze and eyed Viara coldly...it was the first actual readable facial expression she had ever seen him make. "Even? I see..."

He quietly pushed the bowl to one side and tried not to allow his feelings to surface too much...it was a loosing battle around Viara, so he had discovered. Viara just grinned at Stone.

“I’m sorry. I know you’re mad, but it’s so hard to take you seriously with a grubs stuck in your teeth.” Said Viara as she pointed at Stone’s teeth.

Stone took his napkin and gently wiped the grubs from his teeth. The air was beginning to get thick with his silence, as he hadn't spoken a word in several seconds. His eyes were firmly glued to the tabletop, and his expression was again carefully neutral. He hadn't actually been angry...just disappointed.

“I suppose, now you know why not many men stand me up, huh?” Asked Viara in a cool demeanor as she sipped some Thal'kil.

"Indeed" the Ensign finally said. He looked Viara in the eye as he continued to speak.

"The next time I'm ordered onto a mission to find a missing crewman, I'll simply tell them I can't go and that I have a date. I hope you have enjoyed toying with the Hick from the backwater colony planet Lieutenant. At least I've been of some amusement to you." Stone stood and tossed the napkin onto the table.

"If you'll excuse me, I need to prepare for our mission." The burly Ensign turned his back on Viara and left the table.

Viara was shocked. How could he be so, so, cold, better yet how could he think she was so calculating? Without thinking Viara stood and grasped the Ensign’s shoulder, he turned to face her.

“Ensign, I wouldn’t want you to forget your drink.” Said Viara as she threw the Thal’kil into Stone’s face.

The Ferengi Crew Members were heckling and laughing loudly at this point. While Stone stood there stunned, not just by the fact she actually had the nerve to throw the Thal’kil in his face, but because she was standing. He wiped the sticky liquid from his face and sputtered "By all the Disciplines! Have you lost your mind? And why are you standing?! You'll injure yourself further!"

“My father is over two hundred light years away and I don’t need another one.” Said Viara with a booming voice, as she leaned toward the Ensign.

"I am not your Father" Stone stated firmly. "I am merely...concerned." His voice lowered slightly as Viara moved in closer. His anger was dissipating quickly, but he was as confused as ever with this Trill woman.

“Then why is it that you hide behind that cool exterior, when it’s plane for all to see that you’re almost overflowing with emotion?” Asked Viara as she placed a hand assuredly on the Ensign’s smooth, yet strong shoulder.

Franklin sighed. "It is the way of my people. I come from a world where the entire populace seeks internal peace and balance. I never claimed to have no emotions Viara...I have very strong emotions in fact. Many of them center on you lately. But it is difficult to break a lifetime's worth of training and discipline."

“What good is that training or discipline, if you’re not happy? All I ask is that you be willing to explore yourself, including your emotions.” Said Viara as she put her other hand on the back of Stone’s neck and kissed him firmly, but passionately.

Stone's ears rang as Viara kissed him. He hesitated for a moment, but only a moment...Before he knew it he had wrapped his arms around her, and was responding in kind. She had been right in her assessment...his discipline had nothing to do with this, or with his feelings for this woman. After a few moments their lips parted and the two officers stared into each other's eyes.

The room had gone silent, the Ferengi gaping at the sight with open mouths. Stone smiled at Viara...a real smile...and looked about the lounge. "I think we have made a scene."

“Didn’t I tell you. I love attention.” Said Viara with a grin as she held herself up on the Ensign’s shorter, yet firm body.

Stone gently caressed Viara's cheek as he spoke. "Lets get you back in your chair and find some real food. You and I have much to discuss."

“Good idea… perhaps my quarters?” Said Viara as she led the young Ensign out of the Lounge.

Two of the Ferengi sat quietly near the door and watched the Federation Officers. "I do not understand," said one of them. "If I throw a drink in her face, does that mean I can kiss her too?"

The other Ferengi looked at his partner and shrugged. "It must be a Hu-mon ritual..."

"Day I: Latinum Prince" by:
Lieutenant (JG) Viara Rhys
Junior Science Officer

Featuring:
Ensign Franklin Stone
Security Officer

Away Mission: U.S.S. Galaxy

Viara sits in her quarters on the Ferengi Vessel, Latinum Prince. Franklin Stone lies soundly asleep in the bed. He lies out streached, his muscular form agumented by the dim lighting of Viara's quarters. Viara opens a data recorder and begins her recording.

"Personal log: Lieutenant Viara Rhys.

It's been 10 hours since we beamed aboard the Latinum Prince. So far things have gone smoothly, however I can't help but be concerned. Dealing with Ferengi's is risky business. If they thought for a second they could profit by selling us out, we'd be good as gone.

At this point we've managed to set up a plan of action once we make it to the Planet. I only hope my current impairment won't hinder us anymore than it already has. I've made a few modifications to the hover chair. Most of them are not noticable, however if need be they might prove useful.

I can't help but wonder how this team is going to work together. Our personalities are quite different.

Stone is just that, a rock...stable. His calm and strong presence seem to make him stand out in a subtle, yet rustic manner... it's rather odd, but I find him some how innocent, almost untainted... pure would be the best description. However, his sense of duty is quite infatuating. I suppose it's comforting to know you have someone watching your back, who's focused on his duty. It's odd though, the more time I spend around him, the more his cool exterior seems to fade into a raging inferno.

While Lieutenant Richeson has the reputation of being rather cocky and quite the jokester, it's odd we've never met on the Galaxy. Actually, considering how Stone and I are going along, I suppose it's a good thing Richeson and I haven't met before. Perhaps, in a different situation he and I might have had something of a romance. Then again, one witty person, who has a hot head, is normally enough for a relationship.

Of course we have Lieutenant Sullax. He of course is never easy to get along with, especially if your a Human. It's rather odd, how Sullax accuse's many of prejudice, yet portrays the same behaviors toward other species. I can see now, that Sullax and Richeson will probably need to be kept at arms length. The last thing we need is two crew members ready to strangle each other.

Kimi Okuda seems nice. She's fresh out of the Academy. Extremely quiet, but something tells me, she's quite the whiz kid. I hope she doesn't freeze up in the field though, the last thing we need is another Crew Member paralyzed in a fight. Her presence here is quite odd to me. She seems proficient, yet not actually ready to be in the field for something like this.

Doctor Lemur is quite the opposite of Kimi, however. Lemur is the typical Vulcan woman. She's logical to a fault, out spoken, and most of all very blunt. Something tells me that, she and Sullax would get along great. Except for the fact they'd probably argue with each other, until they both turned blue in the face.

Admiral Casey seems to be rather removed from our operation here. He acts as though he's almost a thousand light years away. I suspect that he and Commander Casey must be at odds right now. The animosity is high at any rate, who knows why. I just hope the tension doesn't cloud his judgement when we need it most.

Commander Casey, definitely seems to have a hard-on right now, for everyone on this mission. I'm betting being around his family is probably hitting a few frayed nerves. His sister does seem to have a soothing effect on him, I just hope he is able to fulfill his reputation as the figurative "Iceman".

Cadet Casey seems nice enough. Although, I must question what it is she's doing here. Her presence is definitely helping her Brother as well as her Father, yet her training is obviously below the mark. This operation is not suited for a Counselor, but more of a Security dettachment. I just hope she can handle the road ahead of us, but if not I'll make sure to be nearby to cover her back.

I guess I better get working on fine tuning the recording equipment for this mission. The last thing we need is to land on the surface unprepared.

Computer end log." Said Viara as she closed the data recorder and put it in her nap-sack. Viara then slid back into the cool bed, next to the warm Ensign.

Confronting old deamons
Lt Tim O'Connell
Ens Brooke Ames

The darkness was all around him, the voices were far away "...get him out of there.... We can't reach him...." He pushed and tried to get out but he was pinned. His breathing was coming in gasps as he struggled feeling his breating struggling for oxygen. "Let me out!" HE pushed away from the pressure and sat up, his breathing hard his face covered in a sheen of sweat.

Brooke was known for being a sound sleeper. It took a lot to wake her up but she did, and with a start. "My god Tim" seeing the sweat, "what's wrong?" She didn't know what it was. She, being a Doctor, felt his forehead and then took hold of his hand and with the other, his wrist, trying not to let him know she was checking his vitals. He didn't seem feverish. It was definately a cold sweat and his pulse rate was racing. She was concerned.

He shook her off and got up. After putting on a pair of shorts he spoke, "nothing." he said then walked out in to the living room. The nightmares had never been this bad before, why were they? He took a crystal glass from the bar and poured a large glass of whiskey. He walked over to the couch and just stood there drinking quietly.

Brooke was shocked at his behavior towards her. It wasn't like him. She debated whether to go out there or leave him be until he was ready to talk to her. She choose not to let him get away with a nothing. It must have been a very big nothing for him to wake up with such a start. She threw on a robe and went out there to see Tim drinking, whiskey of all things. She walked over to the bar and also poured herself a drink. Not saying a word, she sat down next to him. "It might help if you talk about it or we can sit here and drink ourselves into a stupor."

Tim looked at her, "It's just nothing, A stupid nightmare is all."

"A stupid nightmere doesn't make you get up and pour a glass of whiskey. Tim, don't shut me out, please. If we are going to have a good marriage, we need to be able to talk about anything no matter what. I believe that the vows mention something about "for better or for worse" and I think that this falls in that catagory." She put her hand on his. "I really want to know. I love you too much to let you handle whatever it is by yourself. Talk to me."

Tim sighed, "a good marriage, I did so well last time, I get her killed then I go after some damned kid, who gets out and gets me trapped under a damned building." He looked straight ahead after realizing he probably said too much.

"You didn't kill your wife. I read the reports and logs concerning her death. And as for the accident, if it wasn't you chasing him, it could have been someone else and the same thing could of happened to them." She wasn't a Counselor but she could still try to help.

"I didn't kill her Brooke, Oh really." He turned to face her, "She came to me after she got the assignment and asked me if I should turn it down. I told her no it would be great she'd get to go home and see her family, and she'd get a promotion." His eyes were hollow there was pain there, "If I had've asked her to stay, she would have and she wouldn't be dead." he confessed his guilt to her.

"I don't believe this. What? Are you a super human of somekind who can foresee the future? I don't think so. There was no way you could have known and it would have been selfish of you to make her give up a chance in a lifetime." She looked him in the eyes. "You don't have a selfish bone in your body or at least, I've never seen it."

Tim looked at her then he laid down and put his head on her lap, "I scared you didn't I?"

"This isn't about me, it's about you. I'm not going to let you change the subject that easily." She ran her fingers in his hair. "And yes, you scared me."

"They have never been that bad." He spoke softly, "Tne nightmares have never been like that before."

"I can see that there are unresolved feeling concerning your wife and the accident. I think the nightmeres are coming back to make you resolve it once and for all." She wasn't sure if she was making any sense at all.

"Did you read the file on what happened to me on the surface." He just buried his head in her lap wanting to feel safe.

"I read a little bit but I'd rather you tell me." She hoped that he didn't think that she was prying.

Tim sighed, "I didn't know the full extent but I read my chart someone left it out..." He began a mechanical recitaion of all his injuries according to the report, "...my heart stopped on the table I was dead for 15 seconds." A sob escaped him, "I died." He then began to cry.

Brooke was a little surprised to see Tim break down like that. She had seen what he's going through in a lot of patients who have had near death experiences. All she could do is be there for him. She didn't say anything for a while but let him release the pain that he was going through. "I wish that there was something I could say to make it all better but I can't. I am here for you, right now and I'm not going anywhere."

He couldn't speak all the pain he had since getting that communication were all being released and he continued his tears while his head rested in her lap. It seemed to last forever but it wasn't that long. Looking up he looked at her, his voice was weak with the drained emotions, "thank you." he said.

"No need to thank me. I only wish I could do more."

Tim slowly sat up and took her face in his hands, "what you did was something I really appreciatem you listened." He then gave her a soft kiss.

"I will always be here to listen. That's a promise." She kissed Tim and hugged him holding him tight, not wanting to ever let him part from her.

Tim held her close, he gently pulled her on his lap, "I will always be here for you, whatever you need I will provide." He clung to her like she was a life line. "You deserve more then I can possibly provide."

"All I need from you is to never shut me out of anything no matter how minor it is...no secrets, anything." She kissed him. "Don't worry about what I deserve. I've got the one thing I deserve the most, you and your love for me."

Tim kissed her again, "I will never shut you out." He hugged her, "I promise." He smiled, "as for my love, you have it completely and with out any hesitiation."

They continued to embrace each other. Brooke "If you need some more time concerning Eshar, we can wait on getting married."

Tim looked at her, "We haven't even set a date yet." HE smiled a wry grin his old humor returning, "You are not getting out of it that easy. I proposed you accepted."

"I shouldn't have said anything. I should have known the answer. And you are right, we never set a date." He seemed to be feeling better and she was glad. It killed her to see him so upset earlier.

Another soft kiss this time with more passion evident, he broke the kiss and looked deep in her eyes "We'll discuss a date later. Right now I just want to be with the most beautiful woman in the entire quadrant."

She didn't argue but stayed there on the couch with him, being there for him as long as he needed her to.

Tim smiled as he held her close and felt her heart beating next to his and remembered the time Neil and him attended a wedding for one of Neil's Klingon friends, "The two hearts." he said quietly.

She looked at him, "What was that you said?"

Tim smiled, "I was remembering when Neil and I went to a Klingon wedding ceremony and the bachelor's party for one of his childhood friends." He sighed, "THe ceremony has the fable of the 2 hearts beating togehter, and how no one could stand up to them." He gazed in her eyes, "when we were sitting here I felt your heart beating through your robe and beating with mine that story came to mind."

"Oh, that's really nice." She smiled at the thought.

He gently slipped his hand under her robe and rested his hand over her heart.

"What are you doing?" She wanted to know what he was thinking.

He smiled softly his eyes were gentle, "I wanted to feel your heart beat."

She kissed him with a slightly passionate kiss. "My heart beats for no one but you."

Tim returned her kiss with an increased passion, "Mine beats for you." He got a wicked smile, "didn't you say somethng earlier about whipped cream?"

"You never miss anything, do you? Yes, I might have mentioned it." She laughed.

Tim walked over to the refrigerator and opened it. He removed a can of whipped cream, "I happen to have some right here."

"I was only kidding." She knew that look. "Tim, what exactly are you planning to do with that?"

Tim walked over and whispered exactly what he had planned with hte whipped cream, her body and for how long.

She could feel herself slightly blushing. "All that with one can."

Tim smiled, "are you interested?"

"Intrigued is more like it." She nervously smiled, "My body is in your hands." The words slipped out before she could stop herself.

Tim smiled, "and my body is in your hands." He helped her stand up, "now do you wish a can for yourself?" he grinned.

"You mean to tell me you have another one? Oh boy, you certainly come prepared. Okay, then I'll...." She tells him what she was going to do with her can to him.

Tim smiled, "then let's go." They walked in to the bedroom and closed the door.

A sound of a can being sprayed and laughter rang from behind the door.

Jake Olson felt bad for the father of the premie baby. He made a music box that played rather than the normal tinny notes, true soft music. He sent it to Bonnetto. He told him that one liked it was played at his side in neonatal.

Jake then walked to work. He hoped the gift wouldn't offend.

He nearly bumped into a Vulcan woman walking quickly down the hall at a speed that Jake could have never made. "Exuse me," Jake said, she seemed not to hear. She was a beauty, but Jake had seen more beautiful women on the Galaxy than he had ever seen in his life.

Jake turned into sciences and got to work. He scavanged some electronics to create some interesting 'future' jewelery and snowballs while cleaning up after the senior scientists.

Jake was glad that his daydreaming never got in the way of his work, or his packratting for that matter! The latter two went on at a terrific pace but Jake couldn't get his mind of women.

Jake Olson was a virgin. In the past, he had always been oblivious, but now his libido was making itself known. Crap, maybe there was something he could take to get that thing in hand. He didn't want to be stuck daydreaming all the time, he wanted to think business.

“The Long And Winding Warp Field”
USS GALAXY
Commander Deiran Casey

Eight hours passed. Deiran couldn’t sleep, he could barely eat, he was an absolute wreck. He did not want to be here, he did not want to be anywhere near his father and the only prize he could see was the fact he didn’t have to stay on Nerinda Minor that long.

Casey was miserable. He wasn’t doing a good job of hiding it either. The Ferengi on the ship had already learned to keep their distance from Deiran. They treated him like he was a Klingon with Nausicaan blood flowing through his veins.

Deiran didn’t like Ferengi ships, he must have had three bruises on his head from forgetting to bend down when going through a door. The Ferengi were so small. Deiran was six feet four inches and so he had to bend down a lot to get through the doors of this ship.

He also made sure he stayed away from his father.

That wouldn’t be for long because Tom Casey was seeking him out. The animosity and anger Tom could feel his son directing at him had gone on too long, even the rest of the surveillance team was noticing a strain between father and son. Tom wouldn’t allow that to continue. Nothing would hinder this mission.

Deiran had a room to himself, it wasn’t big but it was considered a suite on a Ferengi freighter. A bed, a table, a replicator and quiet. It was all he really needed. His thinking was jumbled with thoughts of Miran and Lara, his overbearing father, the war, the death of friends, and what the Captain would do later to him for his father ruining such a private moment between Lee and Jaime. Whenever his father was around, Deiran Casey’s life just went south as quick as a broken elevator.

Deiran laid on the bed, put his hands behind his head and began sulking. He didn’t even get a chance to do that as his father came in and disturbed him, as always.

“What’s wrong with you?” his father asked, not even saying hello.

“You!” Deiran retorted.

“I have never understood you Deiran. I have given you everything, I have been an attentive father. I love you and you treat me like this. We’re on a mission that effects everyone in the Federation. What we’re doing is more important than you can possibly imagine.” Tom was getting upset, but he controlled himself.

“Attentive? Is that the word you’re using now? Last year it was, enthusiastic, a few years before that when I was in the Academy you called yourself an ‘involved’ father. But all you ever do is force me to bend to your will. I am a Casey. It has become a curse more than a privilege!” Casey shouted back.

In one fierce second, Tom Casey sent his right fist into his son’s jaw. “How dare you!” the look on Tom’s face was intense, burning in anger at his son for not being proud of his family name.

“What is wrong with you?” Tom asked.

“You are, I’m an adult now and have faced the fact that you stole my childhood away from me, you stole my fun, you have stolen everything from me just so I could be your little puppet. To be everything you wanted me to be, I even act like you do! How many loving fathers punch their sons for being honest uh?” Deiran shouted back, nose to nose with his father. He was not afraid of him anymore.

The Iceman was better than his father and had proven it in combat and in command situations. Deiran had surpassed the master and knew he would accomplish what his father never could in this life.

“So you are as brave as they say,” Tom laughed. “That’s something you never would have said before as long as I’ve been your father. You always did everything you were told. It became easy to get you to do anything I wanted. I must admit I enjoyed it,” Tom replied. “It’s about time you became an individual. It took me until I was thirty to do that to your granddad,” Tom laughed.

“What the hell?” Deiran replied. “What are you talking about?” he was bewildered at his father’s words.

“Every Casey male emerges from his cocoon at some point. A time when we cease to be our father’s and become who we will be in life. Your granddad rebelled against Grandpa John, just as I rebelled against your granddad. You ’re my son, but you’ve evolved into your own man. You don’t have to please me anymore. Just do your duty to the Federation. But if you continue to hate your family name I’ll ruin your career!” Tom said to his son and smiled.

“I’m sorry about that. I just hate you, not my family,” Deiran replied.

“Dee, I did what was expected of me. Being a male in the Casey clan isn’t easy. I know this, I went through what you did growing up. I’m sorry. But look at you! A commander of a Galaxy-cl

ass starship, First Officer of one of the most important ships in Starfleet. Medal of Honor, Valor, citations and you’re popular. A plain ol’ citizen of the Federation knows who you are, just say Deiran Casey and they can tell you what ship your on and what you’ ve done in your short career,” Tom stopped. “I never had that. I am proud of you, I’ve never said that before, but you have one hell of career and I’m proud...proud of you,” even saying the words was hard for Tom.

Deiran was in shock, ‘proud’ was a word he had never heard come from his father’s forked tongue. His father was proud of him. Deiran lived his entire teen years wanting to hear that come from his father. Deiran worked his butt off from the time he had his high school diploma to the time he graduated from Starfleet Academy and until this very moment. Deiran’s entire life was spent trying to hear his father say “I’m proud of you.”

All it took was Deiran standing up to his father, it was that simple.

“You just taught me a very valuable lesson, thanks Dad,” Deiran replied.

“I have been teaching you those kinds of lessons your entire life. You think you’re the man you are now because of yourself? Nope sorry Dee, your mother and I had a hand in it. Even your sister. We’re family, never forget that. Family is important,” Tom said, and looked out the viewport into the stars.

“You’re right Dad, Miran and Lara are everything to me,” Deiran replied.

“I wish I could have been able to see them, I’d even miss a chance at seeing my granddaughter. That should show you how important this mission is,” Tom’s voice grew dim. The Federation hung in the balance and Tom Casey knew it.

“I must admit I thought for sure you’d at least want to hold Lara while you were here. But, she’ll be on Earth so all you have to do is take a 5 second transport and visit her and Miran.”

“You know what Dee? You picked a good woman, she has to love you to put up with you. It’s just like your Mom and I. I’m not stupid, I know I’m better off with her because no one else would put up with me. It takes a special kind of woman to love a Casey man.”

Deiran laughed. He was right though. “We do have a way manufacturing cockiness and ego eh?”

For the first time in their lives father and son were actually comfortable being together. Deiran forgot his hatred, Tom forgot his shame. Things would be different now.

“Do you think this team can do the job?” Tom asked.

“Aye if they’re on the Galaxy sir, then they are capable of accomplishing any mission, I’d stake my career on it,” Deiran replied.

“Good, an XO should always have complete trust in his crew,” Tom replied.

The Latinum Prince continued on to Nerinda Minor, just hours away…

To be continued…

Karyn was pretty ticked off. She had come along with Ensign Han Jian-fu to aid in the search for Ensign Thorne, who had at one time been a patient of hers. He was supposed to report for duty several hours ago and when he didn't, Security organized a search party. Upon further examination, Thorne's communicator was discovered on the beach along with a puddle of Thorne's blood. Scans showed a residual weapons signature from a type 3 disruptor, which indicated any number of races could have been in the area...including the Ferengi. All evidence showed that the Ensign had been shot and that their most promising lead was the two Ferengi ships currently docked at the Main Spaceport.

Karyn knew they were treading on thin ice as they made their way to the two Ferengi ships. They really had no proof the Ferengi were responsible and they couldn't go off half-cocked at the risk of ruining diplomatic relations. Karyn hadn't ruled out the possibility Thorne had attempted to hurt himself or was suffering from some type of delusion caused by the Risian pleasure drugs floating around the planet. She had said as much to Ensign Han prior to arriving. As far as she was concerned once they located John Thorne, they should update the bridge before doing anything. After all, it was just the two of them and you can bet if the Ferengi had reason to kidnap or injure an unarmed Starfleet Officer on leave, two more weren't going to be much of a problem.

Unfortunately, Ensign Han had other ideas. First, he had gone off ahead of her before she could offer protest. They were pretty sure Thorne had been injured so Karyn had brought along a medkit just in case. He had left her without taking it, he was so intent on finding him. She had been willing to allow for his youth and the urgency of the mission but felt it was important that she be present in case they found John or had to question the Ferengi.

She caught up with Jian, only to find him sprawled on the roof of the bay. She was slightly more annoyed, but thought perhaps he had discovered that Thorne was in danger and needed attention...at least she hoped he had proof. And then she saw him flip over the roof and push his way into the bay using his foot. *Great, just bloody fabulous...I've got the medkit and Superman over there thinks he's going to save the universe! Does he think he can just waltz in there and find Thorne? There's probably a million guards ready to pounce on anyone who enters! Dammit, this is not how it was supposed to go. Who the hell does he think he is?*

=/\="Dallas to Jian-fu"=/\=

Absolute silence greeted her. That was last straw, if he was ignoring a hail from a superior officer, he had something coming. If he had been discovered, she had to get him out fast. After muttering something about thick-headed Security Officers, she contacted the bridge.

Karyn quickly explained the situation.

=/\="He went ahead by himself?"=/\=

=/\="Yes, ma'am."=/\=

=/\="Do you have any proof the Ferengi are responsible?"=/\=

=/\="At this point, I don't. But the Ensign may have heard or seen something to cause him to act quickly."=/\= She cursed herself for being in the chair unable to travel to where the Ensign was, and she cursed herself for not being able to follow him into the bay. No matter how foolhardy the action, she couldn't help but feel angry that she had been abandoned. =/\= "I was worried when I didn't hear from him, so I thought I should let you know." =/\= She was more than worried, Karyn sensed that Ronni knew of her annoyance. Assuming he survived, Karyn was going to make sure he was put on report and told exactly what was on her mind.

=/\="Understood, perhaps you should beam up and help us figure a way out of this mess."=/\=

=/\="On my way."=/\=

***USS Galaxy, Transporter Room***

["Any luck?"] asked Morris from the Bridge.

["None, sir. There is some type of interference blocking our scanners. There are too many lifesigns and with scanners not functioning, I have no way of knowing who's whom. He does not appear to be wearing his combadge."]

["Suggestions?"] asked Morris.

It was Karyn who spoke. ["I suggest we contact the Risian authorities, ma'am. They may have more info regarding these Ferengi and their activities. This will get us out of the sticky jurisdiction problem too."]

Ronni seemed to think about it for a moment. ["Go ahead, but be sure to keep me apprised."]

["Understood."] answered Karyn.

***Ten minutes later***

After speaking with a planetary official, Lorna, and explaining the problem, she agreed to do what she could. Up until this point, the Ferengi hadn't raised much suspicion. They had purchased a large number of supplies but had paid with a generous sum of latinum.

Lorna promised to send guards over to both ships to check for Thorne and any suspicious activity.

A few tense minutes later, Lorna responded and informed the nervous crew members Risian guards had found Han, who appeared to have commandeered the Bridge of the Ferengi ship. The guards were busy finding out the details from Han and searching the transport. *Good, he'll be up shortly. Soon we'll find out what the hell happened.*

Karyn informed the Bridge of the latest developments. Karyn didn't have to wait long before Han was transported to the Galaxy. As he materialized, she didn't know whether to embrace him or deck him.

"Long time no see." said Karyn, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"You're angry." said Han, making more of a statement than asking a question.

Ignoring his probe, Karyn asked concerned, "Where's Ensign Thorne?"

Taking a breath, Han told her what happened. "I'm sorry you were left behind, I had this feeling and I felt I had to act."

Eyes stinging with tears, Karyn held them back and her anger took control. "What were you thinking? We had no proof they were responsible and you come blazing in to play superhero, which by the way got you locked in the brig. You could have been killed! This was not in the plan and your recklessness jeopardized this mission."

"I was able to take control of the ship and find out what was going on, they were going to destroy the ship!"

"You were lucky to get out with you life, this was supposed to be a joint effort, no officer is so strong he can play hero all by himself. We should have informed the bridge of our findings and allowed them to make the best decision. You were lucky the Ferengi were responsible. Can you imagine if your hunch was wrong? Price would have our heads!"

"I'm sorry if I frightened you and that I left you, but I did what I thought was best at the time. You may say what you wish in your report but even if I was rash, I cannot change what happened."

"I'm glad you understand my position, Ensign. I feel I must put this in my report. The chain of command should have been followed here and the Captain strictly enforces it."

"Understood." said Han.

He turned to report to the Bridge, but Karyn noticed his injury and the motherly concern took over. She quickly healed the wound. "I'm glad you made it back." she said gently.

"Thanks, and I...I am sorry."

She gave a weak smile, "Me too."

With that, he headed to report to Lt. Commander Morris.

"Medieval wedding & Tongo propositions"
by Captain Robert Edward Lee Price

*** USS Galaxy, Holodeck simulation - Camelot ***

The crowd had begun top gather on the rooftop orchard of the castle Camelot. The guests for Lieutenant Raesene Hermedhie and Lieutenant' Dierdren Mhistecai had gathered, all wearing appropriate medieval dress suitable for the event. Captain Price adjusted the rope draw-string belt that kept the folds of his brown monk's robe closed as he stood before the gathering guests of the Bride and Groom. Finally, three trumpet players began playing an attention getting announcement song, quieting the crowd and signaling the beginning of the ceremony.

The sounds of marching could be heard long before the knights in shinning armor could be seen walking up the way that parted the Groom's guests from the Bride's. Lieutenant Yazron Beq lead the way, proudly making sure the path was safe for his compatriot and man of the hour, Raesene Hermedhie. Both men looked dashing in their plate armor suits. When they reached the dais, each man paused, lighting one of the white candles. They then each turned to Captain Price, who's role in this medieval wedding was that of the religious monk, and kneeling down, each kissed the ring on his hand before rising to take their places in waiting for the arrival of the bride and her entourage.

Again the trumpet players played, announcing the next phase of the wedding was about to take place. Several children walked along the red carpeted runway, tossing delicate rose pedals onto the ground to sweeten the pleasant day's scent and clear a path for the blushing bride and her honored guests. The flower children took their designated seats before one last round of trumpet music sang out. A last warning to the guests that the wedding was about to commence.

Everything grew quiet for the longest time. Raesene had removed his helmet and placed it down. His eyes glanced over to Yazron's and were met with a reassuring smile as the best man gestured with his hand that the jewelry was still safe in his possession.

Then the music began. A full precession of instruments began playing the orchestrated works Raesene and Dierdren had selected for their wedding. Slowly the brides guests of honor came walking out. Captain Price watched as he could see Doctor Sela Grey, Dierdren's Maid of Honor, walk down the runway between the guests. He quickly glanced down at the Bible he held, double checking that his crib notes for the ceremony were still in place. He knew the Bride would be the next one to come down the aisle.

That's when the Bride's March began to play and all of the guests stood up to watch Dierdren walk down the aisle.

"Convert." Boog stated, carefully selecting the playing cards he wished to cash out. "Ten commodities and fourteen wheat and grain."

"Humm. . ." Ensign Kimi Okuda stated while looking at her own cards and thinking while the Tongo wheel continued to spin, slowly coming to a stop. "Buy. Twelve technologies." she stated, counting out the latinum chips and placing them in the center cup.

"That's risky hoo-mon. I don't think I would do that. . ." Boog stated with a gaping mouth.

Kimi smiled. "That's okay. I like the color of these cards. They are pretty." she smiled.

Boog rolled his eyes. "Females. They have no lobes for business. Especially clothed ones." he stated.

Kimi smiled again and twisted the Tongo wheel, signaling the end of her turn. The wheel stopped at a particularly bad place on the market. Boog's expression soured. "Evade." he stated, taking a card and spinning the wheel.

When it stopped, Kimi liked where it landed. "Confront." she stated, laying down her cards. "Full consortium."

Boog closed his mouth and took a double take before frowning. "Beginner's luck." he stated as Miss Okuda started emptying the latinum in the center bowl and placing them into her stack.

"I told you, he's a complete idiot my half brother. I only keep him around because I promised moogy I'd look out for the imbecile." Daimon Moog explained to the Federation Engineer. Then turning he slapped his brother on the back of his head. "How could you let a hoo-mon beat you at Tongo? And a Fee-male one too?"

"It, it, it's not my fault. Her clothes!, they, they, they,. . . distracted me! Removed them before we play again!"

Kimi grasped at her tunic as if pulling it closed in a modest fashion. "No!. . . " she stated in that "ewwwww!" tone of hers as if the very suggestion had insulted her.

Moog laughed. "Forgive my brother, he's an idiot. He. . . doesn't appreciate the customs of hoo-mon females like I do." the Daimon said, slowly moving closer to the cute Asian Ensign. "Perhaps, now that you've beaten my brother, you'd care to play someone that would be more of a challenge?"

"I suppose that would be you?" Kimi stated, noting the lustful tone the Latinum Prince's Daimon was using as he peered at her.

"I have been known to dabble in Tongo now and again." Moog stated in a faked form of modesty that he actually thought was going to fool anyone to believing he wasn't an expert at the game.

"Well, okay, if Boog doesn't mind. . ." Kimi stated. Boog was the one that , after all, had asked her to play to pass the time away.

"Boog doesn't mind at all, do you brother?" Daimon Moog stated, "He has work to attend to anyway, don't you Boog?"

"I do?" Boog stated dumbly, but then straightened under his half brother's evil stare, "Oh! I do. Excuse me. I enjoyed our game."

Moog watched as Boog walked off. He then placed his hands together and began rubbing them rapidly to warm them up. "Okay then. What do you say we make the game a little more interesting?" the Daimon stated while cracking his knuckles.

Kimi was arranging her latinum and raised an eyebrow at the Ferengi. "What do you mean?"

"How about if I win, you remove your clothes and perform oo-mox on me?" Moog stated in an even serious tone.

Ensign Okuda's expression grew disgusted as she called out, "EeeeWWWWWWW!" while getting up and walking away with her winnings from the previous game.

Daimon Moog licked his lips and watched as the clothed hoo-mon female walked away. "Does that mean no? What? are you afraid of loosing to a Ferengi hoo-mon?" he smiled while glancing at her seductively.

Kimi paused at the door and glanced back. She could still see the little troll ogling her with his eyes. Again a shudder vibrated through her body as she shook at the thought. "Eeeeewwwww!" she again stated walking out of the room.

"Childish Thoughts - Part II"

Lt. Jonathan Lucas Brandis, Zea Toa
Chief Operations Officer

Lt. Yazron Beq
Tactical Officer

Her Royal Highness
Vicea Heero Brandis, Zea
Mother of the First House

Zaria Kier Troi
Daughter of the 5th House

* * * * * Brandis Quarters * * * * *

Zea Vicea walked into Lucas' quarters in much the same way she walked into her own palace on Betazed, like a Queen of the Realm. She two Silver Guards stood watch outside the door while another followed her in. Three Attendants stayed behind and were helping Zaria unpack and settle into Lucas' quarters.

"Zea Vicea Heero," Zaria said walking up to the Queen in her see though night gown. "These quarters are absolutely splendid. Looking around I can see that Lucas must be an excellent husband. He has a wall of decorations and honours he received and I'm sure they aren't the least of his praises!"

"Yes, dear child, Lucas is quite the ... soldier. But, really these quarters aren't much to speak of. I still can't seem to figure out why on Betazed he wanted to join Star Fleet. You know I blame his father. Jonathan would always fill Lucas' head with valiant Earth stories. It's really no life for a Royal Son of the First House." Vicea looked around the room with slight resentment in the idea of trading this lifestyle over Royalty.

"Perhaps Lucas finds more meaning in it." Zaria offered.

"Perhaps," Zea Vicea replied. "Though, I cannot imagine why!"

Lucas walked into HIS quarters, surprised by all the people in it. "Mother," Lucas stated, walking up to the Zea and embracing her with a warm hug. "I've missed you so much. I didn't even know you aboard. I'll have to fire someone in Ops for this big of a mess up!"

Zea Vicea laughed at the idea, "Well, it's my fault, darling, I had everyone in on it! Even the Captain, who is quite the handsome fellow, for an older looking gentleman. I had a welcome ceremony a few hours ago, short and informal of course. Although I would have loved to have seen Robert naked, not to mention that hunk of man, Deiran Casey!" Vicea envisioned the youthful Commander with her imaginative mind's eye.

"He's married, Mother, leave the man be." Lucas laughed at the idea.

"So, were you surprised?" Zea Vicea Heero asked.

"Definately, it's not often I have the Silvers at my door when I'm on a Galaxy class starship." Lucas said, not hiding the sarcasm.

"Yes, well, the Robert convinced me during the tour to just bring three. He's quite the barganing man. So, is the Robert taken...?" The Empress-Queen of Betazed inquired.

Releasing the embrace, Lucas chuckled, "Yes, he's taken, Imza. Leave him alone, he's a good guy and he deserves a break."

Zea Vicea fiend a patented shocked look, "Why, I am harmless Lucas. You know that. Completely docile." She stated, suddenly noticing Yaz was in the room. "And who is this... fine gentleman behind you carrying an adorable baby."

The Zea left no room for doubt as to what she meant by 'fine gentleman'. She gently pushed Lucas aside to get a better view and circled the Lieutenant, like a shark examines it's prey. Determining exactly whether or not a person was suitable for mating with royalty would have usually taken more time, but at the ripe age of 99 years old, Her Royal Highness was not particularly concerned with traditional mating customs. Other than the actual mating!

Yaz raised an eyebrow - this woman was reminiscent of a predator. "I am Yazron Beq, ma'am."

"Well, Yazron..." Zea Vicea seductively laughed. "That is quite a name. I have known few actual joined Trills."

"And this is my so, Keiran." He held up the baby slightly who gurgled.

"Yes, he's adorable. You know I find your race fascinating." Vicea placed her hand on Yaz's shoulder, caressing his upper torso in a pattern that made Yaz ... uncomfortable. "Tell me, Yazron, do you have any idea of the sex drive a Betazoid acquires at my age?"

Yaz face whitened and he shot Lucas a glance. A gulp made it's way down his dry throat.

Moving in closely, Zea Vicea whispers in to Yazron's year, "It's more than quadrupled. I can guarantee you one of the wildest nights of your life.... Rrrrr."

Then, Yaz's jaw dropped. "I....I'm married." He managed despite his shock.

Dropping the entire scenario like it was nothing. "Oh, well..." Still not satisfied. "Happily married?"

Yaz shook his head, she was persistent, he gave her that much. "Yes, and aren't you ma'am?

"Yes, very happily, but making love is something to enjoy and revel in. Commitments should never interfere with living life to the fullest!" She looked down at the Lieutenant's lower torso, eyes creeping just below the belt. "Hum, that is quite a shame. It would have been very interesting."

Zea Vicea sees that Keiran is drooling and has been staring at her breasts the entire time. "Well, child are not you the most adorable thing. But, I'm sorry. These are not for food, well, not at my age any way. But, I'm sure your mother would be happy to breast feed you."

"Okay, Mother," Lucas decided that enough was enough. He didn't want to scare Yaz off for life. "Yaz, why don't you go on down to Risa with Lorraine. I probably won't be able to make it. If I know my mother, then I'm sure she didn't just come to the Galaxy to hit on my friends."

Yaz raised an eyebrow as he noted the barely clad woman who had been standing in the background the whole time. "Sometimes you make me wonder Lucas..."

Zaria smiled, somewhat shyly. She had decided to dawn the see through gown in honor of her meeting her Princely husband. Seeing Yazron walk akwardly out the door made her feel uncomfortable to have made him uncomforable. She was extremely empathic.

"He sure was uncomfortable." Zea Vicea laughed at how Yaz had reacted. Then, her face lite up, immediately, when she noticed Zaria standing behind Lucas. "Oh, you will absolutely love to hear the grand news! I have found your wife!"

Jake Olson walked the halls feeling rather satisfied, but then saw the most incredible woman he had yet to see. Thank the Gods that she didn't see him. She was blue with a perfect fraim.

Jake disapeared into a turbolift in a hurry, as men couldn't hide certain things.

He made it to his quarters in one piece and decided to check the computer and find out whom the beauty was. It was Rr'lonii Morris, his superior officer. "OH SHIT!" Jake muttered into his pillow. His superior officer had to be some one beautiful and female.

---------------------------

Rr'lonii Morris saw a young insign make a fast exit into a turbolift, wondered briefly what was his problem? and went on about her business.

THE JOURNEY HOME

USS Galaxy NCC-70637
Lieutenant, jg Mohammed Uhura
Asst. Operations Chief

Mohammed loaded the last of his things into the shuttle craft USS Yeager, since Capt. Price had approved his leave he had been on cloud nine. He immediately contacted his family back on Earth to inform them that he was on his way home. His father was pleased, his mother was estatic. The baby had not been born yet but according to the doctors, it would not be much longer. He estimated that by the time he got back to Earth the baby would be a few days old and though it hurt him not to be there, he was glad to be going home and being there with his wife and family.

"Do you have everything, Lieutenant?" The shuttlebay Ensign asked.

"Yes. I have everything Ensign." Mohammed replied unable to conceal his smile.

The Ensign returned the smile. "Well sir, get onboard and get ready to depart. You have a wife and a new baby who are waiting to see you on Earth."

Mohammed extended his hand to the Ensign, "Thanks for your assistance."

"No problem sir. I have a family of my own. Ready when you are."

Mohammed boarded the Yeager and sat behind the console. He ran a check of all systems and found everything was in order.

"USS Yeager prepare to depart shuttlebay." The Ensign's voice came over the comm system.

"Copy Galaxy. Yeager prepared. All systems functioning."

"Have a good and safe trip, Lt. Uhura and blessings to you, your wife and the new addition to your family."

"Thank you Ensign. See you when I return." Mohammed said as the shuttlebay doors opened to reveal the beautiful starry void of outerspace. His hands and fingers danced, lightly and gracefully over the control buttons as he started the engines. The Yeager slowly lifted off and once the shuttle doors were opened the Yeager exited.

As the Yeager departed from the Galaxy, Mohammed looked back at the majestic ship and the beautiful planet Risa that it was currently orbiting and smiled. He was leaving one home to return to another home. The Galaxy was home and home should be where family is. He had two families and he needed to bring them together.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personal Log:

Lt. jg. Mohammed Uhura reporting

I am two hours away from the USS Galaxy and the planet Risa on my journey back to Earth. So far everything has progressed smoothly. I have plotted the fastest course back to Earth and according to sensors from the Galaxy and onboard the Yeager there is nothing to delay my trip home. I can not wait to see everyone, especially my wife. I only wish I could be there when the baby is born but I am happy to just be able to be there. I can't wait.

Mohammed finished his log and checked the systems console and his course setting before setting the auto-nav. He rose from his seat and stretched his body.

"Computer play Exodus for me" Mohammed ordered. Within seconds the sounds the soft sounds of wood wind instruments and string instruments filled the shuttle cockpit. He walked over to the replicator and ordered a peppermint tea and a sweet roll. As he sits down to enjoy his trip the comm beeps.

"Incoming message from Earth" The computer announced.

Mohammed turned to the computer and tapped a few buttons and the face...the elegant face of his mother appeared on the screen. Mohammed was immediately alert.

"Mother? Is there anything wrong? Is it the baby? Tashi?" Mohammed asked.

Ashanti smiled. "No. No. Nothing like that, my son. I just wanted to talk to you and say that I can't wait for you to get here."

"Me either mother. How is Tashi and the baby?" Mohammed asked.

Ashanti Uhura smiled. It was the smile of love and joy that brightened up her beautiful, rich dark complexed face. "They are doing well, my son. And they are waiting for you to be here with them. How long will you be staying?"

"For a little while mother. I do have to get back to the Galaxy before they leave Risa."

"You know Mohammed. Dr. Kamala has left the Institute and I was talking to her and she said that it would be a wonderful position for you to fill."

Mohammed sighed. "Mother, I am happy with what I'm doing."

"I know you are but you have a wife and three children that need a full time father and how can you be a full time father out there on a starship in space?"

"I know that mother."

"The children need you. Your wife needs you."

"And I need them. When I get home we will all talk. How is father?" Mohammed asked changing the subject.

"Your father is busy between lectures and checking on Tashi."

Mohammed smiled. "Tell him that his relief is on the way."

"I will. Take care Mohammed. You are the treasure of my life and the song in my soul. I miss you and I can't wait to see you. You make your father and me very proud."

"I love you, mother. See you soon." Mohammed said.

The transmission ended and Mohammed finished his tea and sweet roll before dimming the lights in the shuttle. He checked all the controls again and made sure everything was working well. Satisfied he made his way the sleeping quarters and drifted off into peaceful slumber.

"Entering the Nerinda System"
by Captain Robert Edward Lee Price

*** Latinum Prince ***

The massive Ferengi merchant vessel continued it's warp cruise towards the Nerinda system. On the bridge of the spaceship, several seedy looking Ferengi crewmen man the controls. One of which is the dim witted pilot, Boog.

A warning sound sings out from the flight console. Boog glances at the flashing light, struggling to remember how to turn it off.

"What is that constant beeping?" Daimon Moog asks in an annoyed tone from the command chair, "It's hurting my lobes."

Boog swallowed some drool, only to have his mouth gap open again. "It's the position alarm. We are nearing the Nerinda system."

"Well shut it off and take us out of warp you idiot!" Moog scolded.

"I'm trying. . ." Boog stated, still looking over the various colored buttons on the flight console, "I just need to remember how to do it."

Moog rolled his eyes upwards. "You get that from your mother's side."

"Ah, here it is!" Boog stated proudly. Activating the button, the alarm silenced. Boog was beaming with a smile. . . for about two seconds until a louder alarm started flashing on the Ferengi panel.

"What is it now? That one is louder than the last." The Daimon complained.

"The warp warning. I need to drop us out of light speed travel before we fly into the Nerinda sun." Boog explained with a dumfounded look on his face as if he was trying to remember which controls would do that.

"Well, go on and take us out of warp you moron!" Daimon Moog shouted.

"Okay. . ." Boog swallowed again, only to have his mouth pop open again. "I think it was this one. . . here." he stated with uncertainty.

The Latinum Prince dropped out of warp just at the rim of the Nerinda system. The stars slowed, the alarm stopped, and the main view screen now showed two of the seven primary planets that made up Nerinda.

With hesitation, Moog commented, "Well, it looks like you've done it Boog."

"Ah-hu." Boog nodded.

"Set a sub-light course for Nerinda Minor. When we arrive, establish a standard orbit around the planet." Daimon Moog ordered.

"Ah-hu." Boog nodded, again examining the controls and referring to a dog eared copy of a Ferengi flight operations manual for the Latinum Prince.

Moog shook his head. "You are a complete idiot Boog. You know that?"

"Ah-hu." Boog nodded, still thumbing through the manual. It was unclear if he was even listening to a word his half brother said or was simply responding to pauses in his abusive dialog.

Daimon Moog waved his hands at his brother as if he gave up. "I will tell the hoo-mons that we will be in orbit in the next twenty minutes. They will want to transport down to the Clairmont Hotel as soon as we arrive."

"Ah-hu." Boog agreed, still trying to figure out how to operate the flight controls of the Latinum Prince by reading the Ferengi manual.

Moog exited the bridge and headed to the passenger compartments where the Admiral's team was staying.

When Daimon Moog entered, he was greeted by Admiral Casey.

"Daimon, you've come to tell us we have arrived." Admiral Thomas Casey stated looking up from the chair where he sat at a small round table across from Alexa, his daughter.

Moog licked his lips when glancing at the pert Cadet, but then looked at the Admiral. "Not yet. We've just dropped out of warp and should be in orbit in twenty minutes."

"I know. I felt the ship dynamics change when the warp field dropped. It always causes the hairs on the back of my neck to stand up." Admiral Casey explained.

Daimon Moog made a bad attempt at a forced smiled. "How, interesting. You may wish to make preparations to transport down to the hotel when we arrive. It's my understanding you are in a hurry to get where you are going."

"Indeed. Thank you. I'll have everyone get ready. When we enter orbit, we will be ready to beam down to the Clairmont Hotel." Admiral Casey nodded.

"Excellent. Well, I will leave you to tend to your things." Moog stated, glancing back at Alexa again with longing eyes, "Unless you need any further assistance?"

Admiral Casey stated firmly, "We will be fine."

"As you wish." Moog smiled, then turned and headed back to the bridge to see if his idiot half brother, Boog, had figured out how to take the Latinum Prince into orbit around Nerinda Minor.

"Meetings"
by Lt. Cmdr. Ronni Morris
and Ensign Jake Olson
Science Officers

Ronni told Ensign Tobias, the Tactical Officer on duty that she would be in Ten-Forward if she was needed. "Don't disturbs the wedding for anything! Call me and I'll come a runnin'" she said with a smile. Lt. D'or took command of the Bridge as she headed for the turbolift.

"Deck Ten" she told the turbolift computer. 'All I want to do is to get a good meal and a smooth drink' she thought. She blew a wisp of shoulder length black hair out of her face as she looked over the ever present PADD she carried with her. Absent mindedly, she pulled her hair band over her face, down to her neck, and then resettled it into place. All of this done without losing her place on the list of "To do" items ahead of her.

As she headed for her favorite seat in Ten-Forward, she looked up briefly to say hello to Dor. The Cardassian bartender had obviously recently returned from planet side. He was putting away fresh fruits and full bottles of liqueur.

Ronni sat in the seat at the table that allowed her a good view out the windows, but also kept her back to the wall. Without realizing it, she felt safer with one side protected. Dor came over and said, "Hey Blue! What can I get for you?"

She smirked at the cheeky bartender and said, "I am famished. Can you bring me a thick Bolian Blue cow steak, a tomato salad with Ta'atak dressing, and some garlic cheese bread?"

"Geez, I hope you're not planning on getting close to anyone tonight!" he grimaced, and then smiled. "Anything to drink?"

"Oh yes please. A Talorian Fizz." she said. The drink was non-intoxicating, but it always made her nose tickle.

"Coming right up." Dor said.

Looking back down at her list, she saw that there was a new Science Officer onboard. Normally, Lt. Sullax would be responsible for greeting him and giving him a tour of the ship, but he was on that mission with Commander Casey. She tapped her comm badge and said, "Morris to Ensign Olson"

[Ensign Olson here.] came the reply.

"Can you come to Ten-Forward please?" she said.

[Aye Sir. On my way! Olson out.]

She smiled to herself. She can still remember being new onboard and how scared she had been. 'A little fear is good. It keeps you on your toes.' she thought. She was chuckling to herself when Dor came back with the food.

"Laughing to yourself is the sign of a sick mind." the bartender said.

Ronni straightened up in her chair and promptly stuck her tongue out at him. He laughed.

That is when Ronni noticed the Ensign standing there. 'Oh well' she sighed, 'So much for creating a mystique of supreme authority'.

"Ensign, please sit down. Would you like something to eat?" she said pointing to the chair opposite her.

Jake stared stupidly at Ronni, oh crap, he didn't need his brain to fart in front of a superior officer. She was exquisite and exotic. He sat quickly, having had a perpetual visual problem for days now. "I'd like some coffee, thank you," Thank god his manners are on autopilot. Jake was well trained at autocontrol as he spent most of his school life daydreaming and getting away with it.

"Are you familiar with the ship and your position?" The blue beauty asked.

Ronni wanted to know how this kid managed to shift in the wind so long with out getting attention from superiors, he was fresh out of the accadamy, and most of them needed direction for several days before they caught on to ship's routine. Normally, an unattended Acadamy baby would have gotten into trouble by now.

"Yes, I took in the schematics and have been working the science department, mostly clean up stuff after senior scientists and such. Basicly, what needs doing. On off hours I'm an artist and sell unusual snowballs and jewelery. Most of the ensigns have their general orders posted and I read that before I go in." Jake was too busy trying to control his own reaction to notice her's. Ronni was impressed, the kid just went to work, filling gaps, with out any hand holding. Such a self starter was unusual. She was curious about him, and decided to read his personal logs. Even more impressive, he got to the Galaxy under his own steam, the normal transport crimped out. Basicly he hitch hiked, even rode for a while in a *Klingon transport*, bartering a snowball for a lift. Klingons were not known for helping the stranded!

"Sir, I promised a Leutinant I'd grab some samples from the aboratum for him. He's expecting them. I don't mean to be rude, but I do have to collect them!"

"Not a problem. You've seem to settle in just fine. Oh, I've got the coffee," she smiled at the self motivated, independent kid.

“Interesting Thoughts”

Her Royal Highness
Vicea Heero Brandis, Zea
Mother of the First House

Ensign Jake Olson
Science Officer

Jake Olson walked down the coridor, having sweated out a half hour in his quarters having seen his female superior officer Rolloni. Hoped he would be safe now, oh God! Jake entered the aboratim, hoping he would be safe, and he was collecting specimins for a project in science anyway.

Yet, another beauty entered the aboratim. She was absolutely bueatiful. Her gown was ostentatious and proudly displayed her features. Jake couldn't scram fast enough, she saw him, ‘Oh shit!’

Zea Vicea walked in, still angry at Lucas' totally unwarranted outburst. Here she comes to Risa all the way from Betazed to bring her son his wife, knowing how lonely he felt the last time they spoke, and he tosses the idea of tradition in her face. This wasn’t something she’d come to expect from Lucas. She blamed Jonathan, her husband for Lucas’ fanciful human values of falling in love and not being engaged to wed by parents.

She needed a soothing atmosphere and the holodeck was occupied. Somehow had managed to find the aboritum. Her guards had decided better than to follow her in, feeling the security risk wasn’t very high and Her Majest’s rath was. She didn’t want to be bothered any way.

"You there? What are you doing?" She asked to someone she managed to catch out of the corner of her eye.

"Collecting specimins." Jake answered. He was hoping for a fast exit.

Zea Vicea glanced down at the stranger, thinking he looked rather short for an officer. Somewhat handsome though. "Yes, well, I suppose I can see that." She stated plainly, some hint of being in a bad mood showing.

"I am Ensign Jake Olson, Science Officer." Jake said with his manners on auto pilot.

“I am Her Royal Highness Zea Vicea Heero Brandis, Mother of the First House, Queen of Betazed, Keeper..." The ZeaVicea looked down at the Ensign, who was still on the floor collecting specimens and trying hard not to look up at her. "You are an odd little man. Do you know that?"

"Your Majesty," Jake still on auto pilot, got up and bowed slightly as per text book, "My appearance is due to a fever I suffered as a small child." He didn't know what in Hell to do with this situation, no one else was in the room. Several colorful epithets passed Jake's mind.

"Yes," The Zea said still noticably distracked and suddenly heard the fanciful idea brewing in Jake's mind. “Well, is that any way to think? Your quite the naughty little Ensign, aren’t you?" She looked at Ensign Olson directly in the eyes. Those, impossibly deep blue eyes, caught her attention immediately and she decided to sit for a while rather than keep looking down at them. "You know. You have some very soothing eyes, Jake."

Jake was told to sit again, he sat, not knowing what in God's name to do, as this was some dignatary. He had heard of her, "Thank you," he said, thinking ‘Oh God some one come get me out of here. Oh God, PLLEAASEE!’

Zea Vicea let out a soft laugh, "No need to worry. I am not nearly half as bad as you have heard. I am sure, although, I can be.” She said that last part taking in a deep breath that made her bossom heave out slowly, every so slowly. “Do you know my son by any chance?"

"I am afraid that I do not know of whom you speak," Jake was wanting to run, but now if he got up something ghastly would be well known, as he sat with specimins in his lap.

Zea Vicea sensed the tension and recognized it immediately. Moving a little closer beside him, she placed her hand on his and smiled, "You know feelings are natural. As a scientist I am sure you realize the best things are... natural."

"Duh? Wha?" Jake stared at her, toltally lost and still wanting to run. What was she talking about? She was wearing some kind of perfume, and she was very close. Jake felt so out of water right now that, oh God, Oh Yuck! The specimins aren't sopposed to.... Jake's world fluttered, as he passed out.

One thought came to the Zea's mind as she sat there. 'Men.'

“Childish Thoughts - Part III”

Lt. Jonathan Lucas Brandis, Zea Toa
Chief Operations Manager

Her Royal Highness
Vicea Heero Brandis, Zea
Mother of the First House

Zaria Kier Troi
Daughter of the 5th House

“Wife?” Lucas stated, noticeably surprised. “Did I hear you right?”

“Yes dear, surely you did not think that you would never have one!” Zea Vicea tossed into the air with a smile. “Come now, meet Zaria Kier Troy.”

Lucas hadn’t noticed her, but now there was now way he could miss her. Zaria was a vision. Her dark blond hair and tan complexion were more than flattering. The lingerie she wore was more than revealing. It was some kind of white see-through mesh that made it hard to want to look away.

Zaria hadn’t realized it from the pictures she’d seen onboard the BBG Star Cruiser, but Lucas was taller than she expected. The both knew what the other was thinking. They were, by all accounts, married. Before Zaria and even Lucas was born, Zea Vicea and the Mother of the House of Troi had consulted and decided to wed the families in to a peaceful social arrangement. She walked up and greeted the Prince as would any Betazoid who approached royalty this closely. Bowing lightly as a sign of respect, she ask, “Do I please you, Zea Toa?”

Lucas was in more shock than he realized. He’d seen hundreds of naked women, few as beautiful as Zaria. But, he’d never froze in front of them. In fact, he usually had something smart and witty to add. He was dressed in his Star Fleet issue uniform but may as well have been naked himself. “I... er... Zaria?” He managed to fight out of the lump forming in his throat.

“Yes, my Prince.” She smiled, somewhat awkwardly.

Lucas suddenly felt bad. Why? He didn’t know for sure, anger was growing inside him. Things were getting complicated quick. He’d never even met this woman and here she was, his wife. There was really nothing strange about it. Betazoids have been doing it for millennia already. Many great and successful marriages had centered around arranged marriage. And there really was no greater bond. With courtship out of the way, there was only building on the bond of marriage. “How could you do this, Mother?” Lucas turned his attention from Zaria, his voice flaming.

Zea Vicea was surprised. Lucas was rarely mad. She couldn’t even remember the last time he was. “Do what? Lucas, you have known about this since you were ten years old.”

“That was 65 years ago!” Lucas roared. “How can I marry someone I don’t care about. Mother, I’m already in love with someone else. This is not going to happen.” Lucas tried to hold in the anger he felt. The turmoil was too much. He had to follow the traditions of Betazed. It was his planet. It was home. He had a duty to lead by example. A duty that he’d never taken lightly.

“Well, you will have to learn to live with it. I gave my word and I am not about to go back on it. You will marry Zaria. I forbid you to do otherwise.” The Zea never raised her voice. Always calm and soothing, she responded to Lucas with a demeanor that was pure ice.

That just enraged Lucas all the more. “You can’t forbid me. I’m not a child and I’m not about to stand here and take this from you. You wouldn’t even understand the love of staying with just one person who completes your life. You always have to stick to tradition even when it’s just wrong.”

“I will not hear another word of this Lucas. You will do as the Zea commands.” Vicea stated, somewhat noticeably bothered, but exterior still solid. “And I am not about to be spoken to like that!”

Zea Vicea stormed out of Lucas’ quarters, leaving the room deadly silent. The Attendants knew better than to get involved in affairs between royals and stood there unable to speak, not knowing what to say, just standing.

“I can’t be here.” Lucas said and walked out of his quarters as well in the opposite direction of his mother.

"Blood Oath"
by Kalln and a bunch of drunken Klingons

***Risa***

"Kalln! Kalln!" roared an obviously Klingon voice from behind him in the shady bar. Shady bars were hard to find on Risa, but Kalln had left Anna shopping for what she called "generic souveneirs" and snuck away for a bit of old-days reminiscene... during his time as a mercenary all their business was conducted in places like this.

He rolled his eyes. This action was not apparent from the exterior as they were completely black, but he did it all the same. He knew that voice...

"Hello Jo'Dach," said Kalln loudly without turning from his stool, hunched at the bar.

The Klingon approached rapidly and gave Kalln a hearty comrades' slap on the back. Kalln winced, not in pain or discomfort but annoyance.

"Kalln! My brother!" roared the Klingon again.

Kalln turned slightly to witness a sea of Klingon faces. Evidently Jo'Dack had brought cronies.

"BLOOD WINE!" yelled Jo'Dach, "And blood wine for my brother in honour!"

"Do you have to shout?" complained Kalln quietly, "And I'm quite happy drinking-"

"BLOOD WINE!" shouted the Klingon again.

Kalln and the bartender exchanged weary glances as the Transbusian pottered off to find some of the warm red liquid. Kalln sighed and turned to his sudden companion.

"So... Jo'Dach," he said with low sarcasm, "How are things keeping in the House of Tuq?"

"Ah, my brother, that is what I came to talk to you about. But first, let us discuss the old times... our days of honour together!"

"Let's not," said Kalln.

Jo'Dach stared for a moment, then leaned back and bellowed a hearty laugh.

"That's my brother Kalln, always wanting to get down to business. No time for small talk... a true warrior!"

Kalln sighed inwardly. *Only around you pasty-headed dolts.*

"Then I will tell you a grave tale of dishonour, misdeeds and... where is that blood wine?! Bartender! Blood wine!"

"It's coming, you great-" luckily the rest of the barman's shout was cut off by noisy coughing from the Ni'ni'kampa two stools further along the bar.

"How about you don't," said Kalln wearily, "Just tell me what you want."

Jo'Dach slapped Kalln again, hard, evincing not a shudder but a very slight baring of teeth. *If I wasn't so civilised I'd rip your arms out of their sockets and force-feed you to your idiotic henchmen.* The Klingon turned to those selfsame sycophants and gestured.

"You see my honourable brother Kalln? So great is his desire to help our cause that he demands the details immediately!"

"For Kuporora's sake, Jo'Dach, spit it out!" yelled Kalln slamming his Klagozee down on the bar.

At this point the blood wine arrived. With much merriment and spillage the drink was distributed amongst the half-dozen Klingons clustered around Kalln, delaying Jo'Dach's entreatment somewhat. Finally they were all settled, and Kalln glumly accepted a carafe into a third hand.

"My father... _our_ father, Kalln, who, like I owes his life to you... who still even now sings songs in-"

"Get on with it! I don't have all night!"

Jo'Dach was starting to lose his thread in the face of Kalln's continuing recalcitrance, but he managed finally to spit out, "Our father has been kidnapped by Nybarite Privateers!"

Kalln said nothing for a few short moment, then stared Jo'Dach directly in the eye and said, "And...?"

Jo'Dach grabbed Kalln's robed arm, evincing a short glance of distaste which the Klingon entirely missed.

"Come with me Kalln! Help me and my fellow warriors rescue our father! In the name of honour and glory and the House of Tuq! Help my father as you helped him before."

Kalln just stared. Misinterpreting this, Jo'Dach produced his d'k tahg. He brandished it like a trophy.

"Swear a blood oath with me, Kalln, that we will not rest until Tuq, our father, is freed once more!"

Kalln stared a while longer, before finally managing to spit out, "Excuse me?"

"A blood oath, Kalln, a blood oath! It will be like the old days! Here, take the d'k tahg..."

He proferred it. Kalln looked at it like an agent of the Obsidian Order looks at a Bajoran terrorist. This time Jo'Dach noticed.

"You will not?!"

Kalln looked slowly up, resting carafe of blood wine and Klagozee on the bar, "I don't owe you or your father anything, Jo'Dach."

Jo'Dach looked nonplussed, "This is not about favours, Kalln, this is about honour! Honour and glory!"

"I am not a Klingon," said Kalln, "And I do not care for your misguided system of 'honour'."

Jo'Dach drew back, thought for a second, then laughed again, though slightly weaker.

"Because you are my honoured brother I will forgive that offence... but I will ask this one more time. Will you join us?"

Kalln looked away, "No."

"Rrah!" growled Jo'Dach and gripped Kalln's upper left arm with both hands. Instinctively Kalln brought the back of his lower left hand up into Jo'Dach's face in a backhand that sent the Klingon stumbling backwards. His companions caught him and helped him back up.

"You dishonour me, brother!" snarled Jo'Dach.

Kalln pushed himself around and hopped forward off his stool, both feet striking the ground with a menacingly heavy thump. He bent down into an attack stance, two hands resting on the floor, palms- down, and bared his teeth.

"Perhaps you'd like to make an issue of it?" he growled back.

Jo'Dach slowly wiped the blood from his face. Kalln knew that he knew he didn't stand a chance in personal combat. He was idiotic but not suicidal.

"I will not forget this," said Jo'Dach finally, "I cannot have you removed from the House of Tuq, but I will no longer consider you my brother."

As the Klingons turned to leave Kalln called out, "Maybe now you'll stop bothering me!"

There was no response. The Klingons left in silence. Wearily he got up and resumed his place as the bar. With an apologetic grin he handed the untouched carafe back to the barman and resumed brooding over his Klagozee.

"I _hate_ Klingons..." he muttered to himself.

"The Orbiter"
By Anna Gartner
Edited and Reviewed by Gordall Kalln

Kalln finally reached the restaurant, the Orbiter. A strange name and standing outside of the structure now, he found it to be no bigger than a small dwelling, with a flashing holographic sign and silver metallic walls. Kalln was wearing his best black robes. They were indistinguishable from his usual black robes but he had less in the pockets. Perhaps the rest of the place was underground, he thought. If not, then it was probably the smallest restaurant on Risa.

Walking through a set of automatic opening doors, Kalln was greeted by an Andorian doorman. He smiled at the Gnalish Elt.

"May I help you sir?"

"Ah, yes, table for Gordall Kalln and a Ms Anna Gartner, she told me that she'd be along shortly."

"Just a moment, sir," The Andorian replied, looking over a stylish PADD.

As the doorman checked, Kalln took a moment to study his surroundings. The inside of the building was just one big room, decorated with marble pillars, and rare and exotic plants but without any tables. A large transporter pad stood alone in the center of it. Kalln was puzzled when the Andorian spoke:

"Yes sir, your table is ready." With grant sweep of the arm, he pointed to the transporter pad. "If you'll step onto the transporter I'll take you to the Orbiter."

Kalln frowned, "I thought this _was_ the Orbiter?"

"Oh no, sir. This is just the front door."

"This should be interesting." Kalln said (and his eyebrows would have been raised had he had any) before stepping on the transporter pad. He turned to the Andorian and nodded that he was ready.

"Energizing." The Andorian doorman said as he pushed a few more buttons on the PADD.

An instant and a blue glow later, Kalln found himself in a middle of a rather grand restaurant. He stood on a raised transporter platform that allowed him to look out over a sea of tables with a transparent roof displaying the truly breathtaking view of Risa from orbit. Soft music played in the background.

"So, this is why they called it the Orbiter." Kalln murmured quietly to himself, "A restaurant in orbit... apposite if nothing else."

It was a very impressive feat of engineering, considering how large the dome was on this orbiting 'restaurant' in space. No supporting framework, just clear transparent alloys to give all the restaurants goers a panoramic view of Risa, her moons and the sun.

Suddenly a Bajoran waiter approached him with an over polite smile. "Welcome to the Orbiter, sir. Your table is over here." Then he realized Kalln was alone. "Is your companion with you?"

"Oh, she told me she would be along soon," Kalln replied, "She's... preparing or something I think she said."

"I see. Then if you will follow me sir." The waiter lead him from the transporter platform and across the restaurant to a table in a quiet corner.

Kalln noticed a lot of stares, not just from humans but from nearly every other race seated in the restaurant. Seeing a Gnalish Elt was a rather rare event that didn't happen too often. He noticed one or two of them asking waiters hushed questions. Then he noticed something else.

"A comfortable seat!" he exclaimed looking at the small mushroom-shaped chair set on one side of the table, "And a humanoid on the other side. I'm impressed... does your exozoologist want a job in Starfleet?"

The waiter just smiled and gave a polite chuckle, indicating for Kalln to take a seat. Even after he sitting down, several people were continuing to stare, so Kalln just stared right back and waved politely, flashing them a fangy smile.

"Would you like something to drink?" The waiter asked nervously to the smiling Kalln who looked much like a holovid celebrity of some kind.

"An Andorian Necreena will be fine."

"Very good, sir." The waiter replied. He bringing up a PADD he tapped in a few commands, before the drink materialized right there on the table. The table was equipped with its own replicator unit.. this place was excessively luxurious... perhaps a little too so for Kalln's taste.

"Thank you." Kalln replied before supping his steaming beverage.

Soon, the waiter left and Kalln was alone. He spent many hours in Ten Forward on the Galaxy by himself and to him, this restaurant was basically one giant Ten Forward with a seethrough ceiling. He felt at home, as much as he did anywhere.

About ten minutes passed as Kalln slowly sipped his drink studying his surroundings. During that time he heard the transporter operating several times and with each he turned to look to see who it was. Every time it was customers coming or leaving the restaurant but still no Anna.

A minute later, his heightened hearing heard the hum of the transporter again, but this time when he turned, Kalln found himself just staring. Anna had arrived, but in a way he had never expected. He was use to her wearing a Starfleet uniform, and even off duty she only went out in t-shirts and pants. This time, she had donned a long shoulderless black dress, her long blonde hair combed straight behind her back. She was just... stunning. Even the scar seemed to glow. He blinked slowly a couple of times and she was still there. As the waiter lead her towards Kalln's table, she drew stares but not of the same variety he had. One or two females in the place had to forcibly attract the attention of their significant others. As she drew closer, Kalln stood up showing the old human custom of showing respect to woman when she entered a room. He had never really under-stood it, but now... he just stood up.

"I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long, Kalln," Anna smiled as she reached his table. She batted her eyelashes.

_She batted her eyelashes!_ thought Kalln, and almost stammered.

"Um, no. No, not at all," Kalln said, vicariously managing not to eye her up too much despite form fitting black dress, "The wait was... well worth it. Is this what you meant by getting ready for dinner?"

Anna slowly twirled about, making a big show for him, "You like it?"

Kalln was surprised to see that her dress was backless and daringly low. The only things holding it together were a few strategically placed black strings lacing across her back.

He nodded slowly, trying his best not to look lascivious, "I... never saw this side of you before, and I... like it."

Anna grinned, running a hand down over her flat stomach, feeling the material of the dress, "Yes, this is a rare event for me. I have always been more of a tomboy. Especially when I was growing up."

The Bajoran waiter reached for the nearest chair and pulled it back to help Anna seat herself. Kalln turned his gaze onto the waiter and hardened it. The Bajoran withdrew politely, leaving Kalln free reign to do the deed.

"Thank you, Kalln." Anna smiled to the Gnalish Elt, as she sat down.

After pushing her chair back up to the table, Kalln returned back to his own stool.

The waiter then asked Anna. "And what would you like to drink, madam?"

"Just mineral water," the blonde answered.

The waiter punched another series of commands into his PADD and a glass of water appeared in the centre of the table. Then he hit another button and a holographic menu appeared before the odd couple.

"I will return in a few moments to give you two time to choose your orders."

With a very slight bow the waiter backed away.

Anna glanced over the menu then looked across the table to Kalln, "Enjoying yourself so far?"

"To be honest I would be just as content if I was in my research lab."

Slowly, Anna started to glare at him before Kalln quickly added with a sly smile. "But being _here_ makes me happy... and you're here too."

"How sweet." Anna replied sarcastically. "Oh, look!"

She pointed to the menu. "Klingon boiled C'Torr. That's a lizard from their homeworld, a distant cousin of yours perhaps?"

Kalln played along with her. "No, but maybe a friend I knew once. Actually did I ever tell you about a fascinating species from..."
