The Glory was one of the toughest and safest ships in the fleet. Alexa grew up happy, loved and most important of all protected. The Glory didn’t have many children Alexa’s age and so her main playmate was her brother, Deiran. As they both grew up, the two siblings became inseparable. They did fight and scream at one another, but they always made up and always loved each other. Of course Alexa always looked up to her big brother. There were times when they teamed up that they were unstoppable.
During the Cillarian peace talks in 2360, the USS Glory was attacked by four rebel Cillarian ships. The Glory had taken on about 200 sick Cillarians dying of a fateful disease known as the Nemesis syndrome. This disease slowly eats away at the Cillarian body until the muscle and tissue begins rotting while the patient is still alive. Dr. Casey had finally found a cure for the disease, the Cillarian rebels did not believe it and were willing to attack the USS Glory to make sure the infected on the ship could not spread the disease anywhere else. During the battle Alexa and Deiran ran into sickbay to be close to their mother. She was so busy saving lives she did not notice her children underneath a bio bed.
People’s arms, legs and facial parts melted away from the body. Flesh would slowly peel off the victim like it was being burnt to a crisp. Deiran saw the entire ordeal that the medical staff of the Glory went through in trying to save the Cillarians.
Alexa however was spared the horror of it all because Deiran huddled her close to him and covered her eyes. She never saw the gruesomeness of the scene. Her brother saved her from years of nightmares. Deiran however wasn’t so lucky, but never would submit to counseling. Alexa did hear the cries of the dying and that alone was enough to effect her. Alexa didn’t mind counseling, she liked to talk. She put the ordeal behind her, Deiran never has. She’s aware of what her brother has gone through for her and loves him even more for caring about her enough to risk his own mental well-being. She sees Deiran as a hero and loves him very much for what he has done for her.
Alexa was a diligent student and just as intelligent as her brother. She learned to love knowledge. She would read everything she could get her hands on. Usually because her brother was too busy working and couldn’t be with her.
When it was time for college she decided to attend Stanford University. She stayed with her grandparents, her grandfather, former Admiral, Ambassador John Casey, who was on the Federation Council and lived close to the University.
One of Alexa’s favorite people, besides Deiran, is her grandmother, Lily Casey. Lily was there for her all throughout college.
In Alexa’s senior year at Stanford, she met a rich merchant named Brendan Colligan. They fell in love and a year later were engaged to be married. A few weeks before the wedding, her fiancée decided to call the wedding off so he could start a business venture in the Beta quadrant, manufacturing cloaking devices for the Klingon Empire. Latinum was more important to Colligan than Alexa. This crushed Alexa and she still hasn’t completely healed.
After she graduated, first in her class at Stanford U, she went on to teach at the Prep school at Starfleet HQ. This was a school where the officers of Starfleet sent their children to learn and is widely known as one of the best elementary schools in the alpha quadrant.
She was engaged during her time at the school. After her fiancée left her, she decided to enter Starfleet Academy in 2373.
She entered as a Counseling major. In the beginning of her third year at the Academy, Alexa was assigned to spend her Cadet Cruise on the USS Galaxy, by the request of the First Officer, Commander Deiran Casey.
Alexa has long blonde, thick and wavy hair. She has piercing blue eyes, very athletic and has a perfect ten figure. Her figure is like an hourglass. She didn’t experience the pressure that her brother did growing up. She is fully aware of what her brother went through during his childhood. Casey girls are not required to enter Starfleet. Casey women are allowed to make their own choices. They’re encouraged to be very independent.
Alexa loves her brother very much and understands him completely. Probably the only person who does besides Miran.
She is nicknamed Sunny or Sunshine, because of her perky, jovial personality. The nickname was given to her by her mother when she was a little girl. Only her friends can call her Sunshine or Sunny.
She is used to the power, perks and favors that come with being a Casey. It is like second nature to her. She doesn’t mind it at all. Coming to the Galaxy seems like a perfect fit to her, even though she knows her brother arranged it.
She was the most popular girl at Starfleet Academy.
