| 2375 | Disruptive behavior. Ensign Bosco was involved in a fight in the mess hall of the USS Forrestal along with several other officers that were also charged with disruptive behavior. He was relieved of duty and confined to his quarters for one week, and had to assist in the sanitation of the waste collectors for the next month as part of his punishment. |
The Ishis dealt in rare herbs and exotic candles and fragrances in a little shop at space port Kal Dixas. There they made a modest living and a fairly good life for themselves selling mostly to the star travelers and tourists that past through the busy space port. When Bosco was discovered, Mudabi Ishi tried to contact the Caitian government to get someone to come and care for the abandoned baby, however Suma, his wife soon decided that the best way to care for the helpless fur covered child was to raise him themselves. Mudabi wasn't pleased with his wife's decision, but accepted it and so they raised Bosco as their own adopted son.
When Bosco grew, he was home schooled by his adoptive mother, Suma Ishi. Though Caitan, Bosco was raised with human teachings from East India. It is because of this that Bosco now has a keen interest in his Caitan roots and the history of his ancestors, but also has a deep appreciation and understanding for humans and their cultures and rituals as well.
Being raised at a space port, Bosco has grown up around space craft of different types all of his life. When he wasn't studying his lessons or helping his father in the family shop, Bosco would hang out at the space port and learn all that he could from the mechanics and people that stopped there to have their vessels serviced. It wasn't long before Bosco knew that he wanted to be around space ships and make his living traveling through the stars to visit the wonderful places passer through the space port would tell him of. Many nights Bosco fell asleep looking out his moon portal over head, starring at the stars and dreaming of the day he too would be able to travel to those tiny little lights in the sky.
Bosco eventually took steps to make his dream come true when he enrolled in Starfleet Academy. His initial application was met with resistance, however, when he failed to score high enough to gain admittance and his application was refused. At first he was devastated, but then he decided to study and continue pursuing his dream of serving the Federation on board a Starship. Bosco would apply three more times each summer before his admittance was allowed. One of the instructors noted on his application that "this young man should be admitted on his determination and persistence alone." However it was his final score on the entrance exam that officially got Bosco in. (He just made the minimum grade.)
At the Academy, Bosco found the environment easy to adapt to. Growing up at a busy space port like Kal Dixas had made the "craziness" of the Starfleet Academy campus seem like second nature to the handsome Caitan. The actual academics however proved to be quite a challenge for the young man. Bosco struggled through it, barely passing several section and having to repeat a few. He did learn that he had a natural aptitude for strategic simulations, and was encouraged to pursue a career as a Tactical Officer by his instructors.
At graduation, Bosco graduated 192 in a class of 200, but was thrilled that he had drawn an assignment as Tactical Officer on board a starship. In mid 2375 Bosco began his Starfleet carer as an Ensign on board the USS Forrestal.
Bosco did well on his first assignment. He learned much there about "real world" Tactical situations on board of a starship. Unfortunately an incident (fight) that took place in the mess hall ended getting Bosco in trouble with the Captain of the Forrestal, and a reprimand was placed on his record. Though the incident was not Bosco's fault, he never could seem to regain the Captain's confidence after the incident and was soon transferred to another assignment several months later.
In 2378 Bosco was promoted to LIeutenant junior grade while serving on board the USS Galaxy.
Bosco enjoys watching and interacting with people. He can spend hours sitting in the lounge with a pair of friends sipping drinks and commenting on the other people they see in the lounge. He considers himself a very good reader of body language.
Because of his Caitan heritage, Bosco speaks with a feral purring sound, and occasionally growls like a larger cat. When angered, he can let out quite an intimidating sound. In everyday speech, he tends to roll the letters "R", and accent any syllable that rhymes with "purrrrrr".
