Only four Casey’s have ever been killed in the line of duty through 214 years of faithful service to Starfleet. The Casey’s are originally from ancient Ireland and attribute their living to an old age to the Luck Of The Irish.

Growing up, Deiran was very observant, and capitalized on his upbringing. When he was born, his father was already a Commander and First officer of the USS Glory. He would tag along and watch, learning the duties of every officer on the ship. He was always well behaved and quiet. At 8, he was already able to program computers, and had mastered even the most difficult computer languages by the time he was 13. As his father was transferred, and rose through the ranks, he accumulated an enormous amount of knowledge. He’s secretly traumatized by a disaster he observed at the age of 10, while his father was Captain of the USS Legacy. He was a witness to the deaths of 35 people while huddled with his sister underneath a bio-bed. He never speaks of this, has never had therapy for it and hates sickbay because of this ordeal.

Deiran could easily assume any post, on any Starship in the galaxy. He wants to make a career for himself, on his own, without the interference of his father.

Deiran's dedication to his duties quickly earned him a promotion to Lieutenant jg. on board the USS Galaxy. Later that same year, he was again promoted to full Lieutenant and made Assistant Operations Manager. When Lieutenant Commander T'Lein extended his leave from the Galaxy, Deiran was officially made the ship's Chief Operations Manager. Later that same year, Deiran received another promotion to Lieutenant Commander just before his wife gave birth to their first child, Lara.

In 2374, Deiran was awarded the Medal of Valor for successfully stopping a pair of renegade Breen intruders from destroying the USS Galaxy by attempting to set a stolen phaser on overload and start a chain reaction in the Aft Photon Torpedo storage chamber.

In January 2375, Deiran was promoted to full Commander on board the USS Galaxy. Within a month, he was offered the position of Executive Officer when Commander Joerg Sterner, the Galaxy's First Officer at the time, was offered a command of his own.

At the conclusion of the Dominion War, Commander Casey was Awarded the Starfleet Medal of Honor Citation for successfully leading a rescue mission on Cardassia Prime that saved the lives of several imprisoned Starfleet officers being held by a platoon of Jem'Hadar. Just a few months after the end of the war, Deiran assisted his father, Admiral Thomas J. Casey, in leading a task force of Akira class starships on a mission into the Romulan Neutral Zone to aprehend some criminals. Deiran served as Captain of the USS Wellington and through his actions was able to successfully carry out the mission objectives with minimal loss of life. Deiran received his second citation of the Medal of Valor from Starfleet Command for his efforts.

The Casey family is a member of the Klingon House, T'gara. And Admiral Thomas Casey is personal friends, blood brothers, to the Head of the House, Rintar'h.

In his last year at the Academy, Deiran posted the highest scores on the Engineering and Ops final exams ever recorded. Deiran is known for his Warp drive improvements throughout Starfleet command. Deiran majored in Ops Management and Engineering. He also did exceptionally well in his Officer training classes and could be a dynamic Captain one day. While attending Starfleet Academy, in his sophomore year, he earned the right to lead the elite Red Squadron. He graduated 1st in his class in 2372.

He is an exceptional fighter and familiar with almost every kind of martial art. He has tremendous strength do to a religious workout regime. He has lifted a Klingon in full battle armor completely over his head. He has a terrible temper which he struggles to keep under complete control. In a life or death situation, he is cold and deadly. He possesses tremendous control over his emotions and rarely reveals his true inner being.

Deiran does have his weaknesses, but keeps them hidden.

He received his Tactical and Science degree through the CEP of Starfleet Academy, a program for Starfleet Academy graduates as a way to stay current in the ever-changing world of Space travel. The program is achieved by Holodeck simulations in which all classes, experiments and tests are performed and graded and then transmitted to the respective professors at Starfleet Academy.

Deiran has blonde hair, blue eyes. A tall, dashing, charming young man who possesses that famous "Casey smile." Hates liver and onions, doesn’t drink alcohol because he believes in having a clear head in emergency situations which could arise unexpectantly. He has a sister named Alexa who is currently enrolled at Starfleet Academy. Alexa is 2 years younger than Deiran. Deiran loves to go on adventures in the holodeck. He is well known for creating elaborate holodeck programs.

Extremely driven to succeed, mostly because he's obligated to continue the family tradition of Casey Admirals that has continued down through the years, dating back from the founding of Starfleet.

Deiran was married to Casey Ti Miran, Chief Helmsman on the USS Galaxy in 2373. Captain Price performed the ceremony shortly after returning from "The Void". Deiran is head over heels in love with Miran, and his daughter Lara is the light of his life.

In 2375, Deiran's sister, Alexa Corinne Casey, came on board the USS Galaxy to serve her Cadet cruise as a counselor. Deiran is pleased to have his kid sister on board the Galaxy.
