The slim, short Vulcan known as Slisik was born in a small city on Vulcan in 2340. Her parents, Stolok and TÕLere, raised her as a proper Vulcan. They were ordinary people, her parents, so they were quite surprised to find themselves raising a mathematical prodigy. Slisik was quite torn as a child. Her parents wanted only the best for their daughter. The Vulcan Science Academy wanted to train her in the various courses offered there. The members of the Kohlinar discipline saw great potential in the young girl. Gradually, Slisik came to believe that it was only logical to follow a course of life that she herself had dictated, not others.
Thus did Slisik join Starfleet. She took the Academy entrance exam and passed with flying colors. At the Academy she poured herself into her studies and impressed many of her instructors with her dizzying intellect. She placed highly in her classes and graduated second overall, after Dieran Casey, whom she had an intense dislike for. Slisik was both troubled and disgusted by her inability to beat out Casey for valedictorian, as well as his choice of low responsibility operations work over the more intense Tactical and Flight Control departments.
To prove her value as an officer, Slisik applied to Vice Admiral Alynna NechayevÕs Independent Advanced Tactical School in Glasgow, Scotland. She received recommendations from her tactical professors at the Academy, Ensign Donovan Black and Lieutenant Commander Todd Vincent. She graduated was accepted and worked intensely to raise her ever growing standards still higher. She graduated in 2374 and remained at Glasgow, writing Tactical programs.
So it was that she was on Earth when the Borg crossed the border in 2374. She manned the tactical station on the hastily launched (from Utopia Planitia) Akira-Class Heavy Cruiser, USS Admiral Nimmo NCC-65711. Slisik fought the Borg till the Nimmo was crippled and she was beamed off by the USS Enterprise-E NCC-1701-E. She was onboard the Enterprise when it was briefly taken over by the Borg. She narrowly escaped assimilation by holing up in the shuttle bay with seven others and fighting off the Borg with a TR-116 railgun. Eventually the Enterprise returned to itÕs own time and Slisik received a commendation for her work on the USS Admiral Nimmo and protecting the crewmen on the USS Enterprise-E.
The USS Admiral Nimmo was repaired and Slisik was shuttled off to fight in the Dominion War. During the final battle over Cardassia, the Admiral Nimmo was destroyed holding off an entire JemÕHadar attack wing. Slisik barely survived the crash of her escape pod. She wandered in the desert for several hours before being captured by a group of rogue Cardassians who were not aligned with DamarÕs resistance.
After several months of being tortured, Slisik finally lost control of her overly potent mind. All the Vulcan mental techniques she had learned failed and her mental power was unleashed on the unsuspecting Cardassians. Truth be told, it scared the pants off of the young Vulcan when she suddenly found herself in total control of thirty embarrassed spoon-heads. She took the opportunity to escape, eventually regaining control of herself, wandering for weeks in the desert of Cardassia before being picked up by a Starfleet Medical Ship. She couldnÕt for the life of her remember the location of the Cardassian compound. The barely conscious Vulcan was returned to Earth for extensive medical and psychological treatment before returning to duty onboard the USS Farrington NCC-13960, an Excelsior-Class Explorer.
The Farrington was brought into spacedock at Starbase 415 for refit and itÕs crew, including Slisik, were sent to various other assignments. Slisik accepted a post on the USS Galaxy. Arriving onboard with former teacher Donovan Black.
She quickly received her first promotion to Lieutenant jg. in recognition for her work on the mission to retrieve the USS Icarus. In honor of this promotion she was given the a TR-116 which she had used on the world in the Mako Nebula where the USS Galaxy had made second contact with the Hirogen.
Slisik is unbelievably intelligent, even for a Vulcan. Most of this potential is currently concealed by a lack of experience, though young Slisik is constantly striving to learn more and extend her abilities. She intends to go back to Glasgow IATS (Independent Advanced Tactical School) for more training soon. Slisik is fairly typical for a Vulcan. She is not easy to anger, and is calm in most any situation, except for one where she might lose control of her mind again, which is her greatest fear. She is, on the other hand, overly cheerful for a Vulcan, which translates into a smile or witty remark on occasion. She is a good, solid friend for those that she likes.
Insert as of Stardate 47356.33 - Commander TÕLiek, Counselor, Starfleet Medical - Slisik was deeply confused as after her encounter with the Cardassians. In my professional opinion, Slisik lost control mentally when she was deprived of the means to meditate and perform mental disciplines. She is deeply afraid of doing so again, as the experience was traumatic. I believe that with the additional techniques taught to her by my Vulcan staff, the chances of this happening are slim and none. Therefore, it is only logical that she be returned to duty.
Slisik was very badly scarred by the torture that she received at the hands of the rogue Cardassians. To make matters worse, she was in Pon Farr when this happened, and was forced to control the mating urges through meditative techniques before the loss of control that she experienced. Her next Pon Farr is scheduled for 2382. Slisik prides herself as a marksman, and has been working to perfect her aim with the TR-116, a weapon she first encountered on the USS Enterprise-E and later on the USS Galaxy. She now owns a TR-116, a gift from now-Lieutenant jg. Donovan Black, one of her closest friends. She is very good, and has been a runner up in the Silver Bullet contest in the past. She dislikes Marines for their arrogance and shooting ability.
Slisik is highly mentally disciplined, though she is unable to mind meld and nerve pinch, mostly because she never learned the techniques. She learned most of her mental techniques and developed her mental conditioning from the Starfleet Medical Counseling Department, specifically Commander TÕLiek, a Vulcan woman of great mental capacity.
Slisik also enjoys Tactical Simulations, Mathematics, Chess and human literature, particularly the works of Shakespeare and Dickens. A favorite quote of hers is ŌTo be or not to be? That is the question.Ķ though she frequently modifies the end to be ŌThere is no question.Ķ.
